Warner and Kaine both got a pretty detailed assessment of what I think about it.

I just posted about this bullshit in the general forum.
I do agree with Warner that it's a drop in the bucket and something more comprehensive needs to be done. In the meantime, just cut everyone a damn check and don't worry about their income, especially if they're already impoverished! Motherfucker!

That'll look different as infections increase and resources become even less available. In a few weeks Dear Leader will probably have 104% approval, maybe higher.

Probably not a good time to worry about political points but the democrats scored a shutout today. Kicking Moscow Mitch in the nuts was a nice touch. I hope everyone on the right got the message loud and clear.

They need to waive evictions as well. And figure out a way to help landlords at the same time - not every landlord is a scum-sucking pig.
I say that we have a one month freeze on all evictions, foreclosures, whatever. For both individuals and small businesses.
Send all the individuals a check for $1000 grand as a short-term bridge. Give everyone on unemployment food stamps automatically.
Then take the damn 30 days to try and come up with a better plan to move forward with - one that is focused on individuals and workers, but also will benefit businesses as well. Because if thousands of businesses go under, then we'll all still be screwed. But at the same time, enough with the shit about "We can't afford to give workers benefits or a decent wage because our CEO's need to earn $10mil this year!"

I think they did halt all evictions and foreclosures at least per the federal housing authority, fannie, and frederick, for 60 days.
Might have heard it wrong.

Yeah, if you have a mortgage as part of HUD, you get 60 days. Otherwise, you're screwed.
And a large majority of renters aren't under section 8, so this doesn't apply to them. Some cities and states are stepping up however, and saying that they won't process or enforce evictions for 60 days. While that helps, there still needs to be something else done, because if I have no income to pay the rent today and my employer doesn't open back up until May, I'm not going to be any closer to having April's rent than I am today.
That's why I say we need a better plan - because there are going to be people who's jobs won't be there after this ends, and we have to take care of them.

Freeze rents to help renters. Freeze mortgages to help landlords that are probably paying a mortgage. Freeze utilities. Freeze property taxes. Freeze trading.
Simple stuff, stop making people worry about paying for things that they can't live without, give them some money to buy things that aren't already provided by utilities, keeps the economy afloat as we all have to hunker down for a few months.

Indeed.
The current proposals, even the house democrat sponsored one, leaves the poor folks behind. It was in their draft proposal, but strangely gone from the one sent out to all members.
I wonder if they will even kiss us first. Doubt it.

John, if you need help let me know. I’m not well off by any means but I am lucky enough that I have a regular income. And I was kidding when I said I wouldn’t share my hydroxychlorocoquin with you. I’ll gladly share. I hate taking it because of the side effects. I quit taking it about 14 years ago when I was diagnosed with AMD. My rheumatologist finally convinced me to start taking it again, although at a lower dose, about 8 years ago. So, what I have or can obtain, I’ll share.

Very sweet and thoughtful. We are getting by on what we have at the moment.
My daughter had to postpone her wedding. They also had to cancel her bridal shower, and batchelor/ette parties that were both going to be out of town. Probably can't make this sound like I mean it, but it all saves me from the hit of having to incur hundreds of dollars right now on buying or renting a suit and everything that goes with it (I don't even have dress shoes anymore) and clothes/shoes for her, some sort of wedding gift, traveling back and forth to Tappahannock two days in a row, and God only knows what else... so for now, that's off my mind at least.
My letters to these turds in office are my way of rattling the lock, even though I know they fall on deaf ears. But being an advocate for people in the same boat is okay with me and gives me something to do.

So #MoscowMitch has said the bill they passed and sent to the House is not a "stimulus" bill. It's "relief" now. I'm sure that doesn't have any political connotations whatsoever, and I'm sure it's going to be a really big RELIEF for people on SS, SSDI, SSI, and/or people that are considered LI, VLI, and NI. Did anyone hear if they are still going by 2018 tax returns? In which case we won't get a red cent or RELIEF.

Yeah, going by 2018 returns. Really going to help people, right?
But don't worry - Boeing is getting a nice chunk of change, and it doesn't look like it's tied to any employee provisions, like keeping them on the payroll.

Fuck me to tears, really?. So we'll get nothing since I had an income in 2018 but haven't filed taxes for that year yet. I wonder what would happen if I hurried up and mailed that in. Also, when filing for SSDI I did report that income but of course the IRS probably doesn't have that info, at least not for convenience sake.

Can't find anything about that.
Right now the bill is being held up by three assholes who say that increasing unemployment checks will give people incentive not to go back to work. I so wish these assholes would at least read ONE unemployment regulation before spouting idiocy like this. You know like the one that says you lose benefits if you turn down a job unless you have a damn good reason not to take it....

Frikkin assholes on the left too. Their little effort to write their own measure was a special little game too. It's about time they learned that when you are writing a bill that addresses Issue #1 and you try to bundle it with issues 200-230, especially when Issue 1 is extremely critical....
Just when you thought they might focus for a minute.
