I just love how so many of those who are whining about not being able to get vaccinated RIGHT NOW are the same ones who don't want their freedom infringed upon by wearing a mask. I wish there was a way to say that each and every one of them has to go to the back of the line, regardless of their status.

Here in King George, I was sent to the Y, where there was a huge operation. It was very smooth and I was out in an hour. However, as I feared, there was a LOT of standing, which is very difficult for me with my back and lower extremity issues. When I saw the line, I was fearful I would be there all morning. I was very impressed! They had 12 shooting stations and 12 people available to make your next appointment.
My BFF’s daughter got a call from the Walmart here at around 7 am today, asking if she wanted the vaccine and could she get there ASAP. Of course, she did. She only had one person ahead of her and was out of there in 20 minutes.
John, have you verified that you’re on the list? I received both an email and text today from VDH informing me that I was on the list and would be notified when appointments were available. If you didn’t get one, you should make sure you’re registered as my BFF received the same from VDH.

Mr. Minx got an email to schedule his first dose - he goes next Thursday. My second one is tonight after work. And I read an article in the NYT saying that the Biden administration is ramping up both capacity and distribution. They're working with businesses to get places set up for clinics, like sports arenas, and have companies like Target agreeing to give their employees paid time off to get vaccinated. Spokeperson said the message they want to sent and have spread is simple: Wear a mask, keep your distance, get vaccinated About damn time! Can you imagine where we could have been if the message last year at this time had been Stay home, wear a mask, keep your distance Hopefully, the light we're starting to see will get brighter now. All positive things that point towards daylight, though somewhat tempered by the so-called variants that have emerged and seem to be a new one identified every week. The CDC director is saying the one in Cali is worst yet. Sometimes I wonder what the actual fuck is going on and if games aren't being played for some morbid corporate overlords' benefit. But yes, I am 100% aware that viruses mutate and adapt just like bacteria does. In fact, I remember early on when Fauci had raised those concerns that his former boss tried to keep in the burrito bowl. J&J got the FDA panel to recommend their vax for emergency authorization though I'm not sure if that formality has happened as of typing this or not. They (J&J) have said they will deliver something like 30 million doses in as many days, by the end of March, to the states. Being the product of a public school education, I am of the opinion that since their vax has the lowest efficacy of the ones that will be available, it should be given in the latter phases to those least vulnerable to infections like healthy school age children and young adults and or perhaps not working in high risk/contact/essential jobs. Since it is the easiest to transport and store, it might also be the best suited to get out to remote and rural areas.

The Biden administration used the Defense Production Act to speed up J&J and Merck working together. They were talking, but Big Fed made it happen ASAP. So, more production facilities will be making it.

I honestly think this is mutating so much because of our pansy-ass attempts to thwart it. If we all had some sort of unified approach, we might not be seeing as many mutations.
OTOH, I really don't know shit about coronaviruses other than the fact that they can mutate easily. So I could be blowing shit as usual.

On a really positive note, I deliver meals to the elderly for Juan More Taco on Saturdays.
The last clients are two women - I have never personally seen them - usually a man around my age answers the door. I assume he's a relation to them of some sort.
Anyway, this week I ran up without my mask (eee), so I hung the bag on the doorknob, knocked and jumped off the stoop to the sidewalk so I was a good distance away.
One of the women answered the door! She was so excited - they had just gotten their second dose of the vaccine, so they felt safe going to the door for the first time since this started. I am beyond thrilled for her! We spoke for about 5 minutes - very nice lady, and a nice reminder of why we're isolating, masking and keeping distances - for folks like her.

VDH sent out a notice yesterday asking people that have registered for the vaccine to update their info. Although it probably wasn’t necessary, I did. It would benefit everyone that has not been scheduled for a shot to do so. There are a few additional questions and they also allow multiple “pre-existing conditions’.

Seems like things may be speeding up - 3 of my coworkers in other states just got called to set up appointments.
Mom got her second shot of Moderna yesterday. As of bedtime, no side effects. Hoping it stays the same today. She's 92.5, and the first shot knocked her on her ass for a day.

My son..... 25...... just got his second. He said he was sore as shit and felt the same the day after. Fine now. Louisa County via their health dept was apparently offering it to all their employees.
We are still waiting. Had brief conversations with some of the people here and the ones under 65 haven't gotten it yet either but the older ones have had at least the first round.
I'm kind of hoping we can get the J&J but next week I'm going to start pressing hard the issue no matter which is available to us. She has her 2nd infusion at UVA this Thursday so there's no point in popping a fuse over it this week anyway.

Well smack my ass and call me Sally.... they just called from Campbell County and put us on the sched-ool for tomorrow. I forgot that I had signed up on their county website even though we don't technically live in that county. It's kind of like a Fredericksburg-Spotsylvania type deal and we're in the city...
Anyway, I told him that and he said it was fine. They also only had my name but said they could do hers at the same time as well. YIPPIE!!!! Now all I have to do is get in touch with UVA and make sure they can still do her infusion, but from everything I've read they say that while it's not ideal, the benefits of the vax outweigh the risk of putting it off in lieu.

Would you like a map of the 5G towers in your area so you can avoid them? That way Bill Gates won't know where you are.

Looked like the Rustburg FD/EMS was running it. They had everything running like a finely tuned machine. It was about 25 minutes between putting er in park and putting er back in drive.
Moderna. It says our 2nd vax is April 16. What happened to that 2 week time window?

The two weeks is when you are considered immune - 2 weeks after the second dose.

Wegman's just opened vaccine appointments this morning at its Fredericksburg store - progress is definitely being made.
Now of course to get the anti-maskers/COVID deniers on board to get one. Far too many assholes saying they don't feel the need. My personal favorites are the religious nutjobs saying that God hasn't 'called them' to get one. I hope they realize that if they get the 'rona that God is also calling on them to stay home and not disturb the heathens working in our health care system.

Go Bob!
Little Minx just got approval to get one, and is now waiting to get an appointment. She is a free-lance ASL interpreter, and her agency said she qualifies as part of 1b and needs to get a vaccination. I am happy that her turn will be coming soon, but confess to heart failure when she first said she was in 1b. She's a pretty healthy person, so WTH? Then she told me it was for work.

I just got mine. They aren't really set up for pedestrians, but whatevs. Confirm appr outside. In the foyer you stand in front of a temperature scanner, go around the corner to confirm the appt, go in the next room for the jab, next room schedules vaccine 2, then you sit for 10 minutes so they can tend you if you have a bad reaction. Under 15 minutes total for me.
Sore arm is all so far, but it's barely been 2 hrs.
