My boss has it and is miserable.
He called his doctor and asked if he could get the antivirals.
Nope. Because he hasn't had a physical in the past 3 years, they won't prescribe them.
Mind you, the CDC or FDA has said nothing about being unable to prescribe in that situation - just that if you have certain conditions or are on specific medications you shouldn't take it.
So if you have a heart condition, kidney or liver disease, hypertension or are pregnant, you don't qualify.
Seems to me that taking his blood pressure should clear him, since he doesn't have a history of the rest.
I really feel for the poor guy. He got it once before the vaccines were widely available and now has it again.

Best heal.......... well, you know.
That sucks. A friend of mine here was laid up with it a couple of weeks ago. He said he felt like shit and it rivaled the worst he's ever felt but that it was only a couple of days before he started feeling better. If I know this guy like I think I do, he wasn't vaxed. But I didn't ask.
We are both currently in health care purgatory. It's literally an outrage that the only doctors taking new patients are an hour away. and the one or two that are taking new patients are making apts in Jan-Feb.
Dems, who hold the HOR and the White House, don't seem to be too concerned about it. Maybe Trump will finally reveal his plan when he comes back for his second term.

He is starting to feel a little better, which is good.
Our health care system is collapsing, and even the rich will be starting to feel it before much longer. As you noted, the best insurance or fattest bank account is kind of worthless if you can't get into see the doctor.

And, who wants to be a doc these days? With all the controversies and threats, only those that are only there for the money will be available. The people that are dedicated to serving will find a different, less stressful field. All medical professionals are suffering. And the teaching profession is really hurting.

Hard to give a thumbs up to that Pam, but you're not wrong in what you say.

I was thinking that the last one was the last one. No mas. But with so many people I know coming down with it again, I might rethink my stance on it. She got seriously ill because of the last booster so she's not on board whatsoever.

Me. ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ» But next month. Since Iβm not thrilled about venturing out, Iβll wait and get both the booster and flu shot at the same time. My rheumatologist once advised that I wait until October or November to get the flu shot to be sure that the antibodies are active at the most virulent time. But I havenβt had a reaction except for a slight fever from any of the Covid shots. Nothing like the shingles one.

I want to visit my mom next month. She's 94.5, so I'll definitely get a booster and the flu shot before I head up there on the better safe than sorry principle. And I'm hoping for the same reaction that I had to the first two - feeling like a bad hangover day after, then better the next day.

I swore after the first two shots for Covid that I was getting a placebo because I had no reaction except for a sore arm. π€£π€£

I read an article yesterday about long Covid and how those with depression and other mental illnesses are more susceptible to it. So, Iβm never ever leaving the house again.

I'm not sure about that Pam. I'm wondering if people with mental illnesses are more in tune with their moods and thoughts, so they are more aware of things like brain fog or sudden inexplicable exhaustion. So maybe they're reporting at a higher level than others right now.
And let's face it - everything gets blamed on mental illness and depression. 'Doctor, I've been getting these inexplicable headaches for the past two weeks.' "Hmmm. I see that you've been treated for depression. Are you sure it's not that?"
