I got mail today that had been sitting in my box for at least 10 days. Most of it was Medicare related. Holy crap! This is my second year as a Medicare recipient (well, factually, next year will be the second year). I thought the inundation over the past few years was a lot, but this year they are really throwing everything at me. Huge catalogs, shiny brochures, stuffed envelopes with confusing literature. All going in the recycle bin. Such a waste. I cannot imagine how much money these insurance companies are getting from Medicare. It must be ginormous.

You know it has to be - and they confuse the shit out of people with their mailings. "Oh, join us and we'll cover shit that no one else will, PLUS you get a gym membership!" My mom fell for one of them - lost her state-sponsored BC plan she got when she retired and hasn't gotten shit in return. Just lovely.

Right now I only have part A and D. Haven't had to go with part B because Virginia is still paying for my Medicaid. I expect that to be gone right after mid terms. I see part B is about 165 a month and several advantage plans that are available to me have no premiums copays or rx copays. I hate to jump on that wagon right yet until VA cans the Medicaid benefit. But if they do my cola will mostly cover part B premium

I kept the Blue Cross that I had when I retired. It seemed to be the best option. I switched from BC for awhile and it was a horrible experience.
The funniest are Joe Namath and the “Dyn-O-mite” guy in the tv ads. “You get MONEY back in your social security! CALL NOOOOOWWWWWWWW!”

We met with a financial advisor before Mr. Minx retired - she said to never drop our federal plan unless the government did something drastic.
And let's face it - if the government did something drastic, we probably won't be worrying about health insurance as a primary concern.

I’m wondering what kind of COL increase government retirees will receive. Could it be as big as social security?

I don't know - Mr. Minx hasn't had any news yet.
Cracked me up that all of the MAGAs are pissed about the SS increase. Seems that it would be the ONE thing they'd be happy about since they're going to be getting those bucks and not those lazy-ass poor people they rant about.
