Well, I now know why my eye health is so awful. I just received an email listing all the foods that are bad for eye health: - Margarine
- Commercially-prepared pie
- Cake and cookies
- Potato chips
- French fries
- Salad dressing
- Sausages
- Hot dogs
- Soda
Tiny capillaries provide your retinas with nutrients and oxygen; and because these vessels are so small, fatty deposits can easily cause blocked veins. Blocked veins in your eyes can increase your risk of age-related vision loss like macular degeneration, cataracts, and glaucoma. I have all 3 of these. All of these arteries are blocked in my eyes, obviously. So why bother taking all these supplements? I’m on 4 different supplements for my eyes, along with 2 prescription drops and the hot compresses. I’m determined to make my sight last until the end. If it doesn’t, I’m dead anyway.

Okay, let's see. Margarine, commercially prepared pies can go. Butter and fresh pie for life. Cakes and cookies have to be fresh too, so processed ones are out. Chips in moderation, along with hot dogs and fries Life is nothing without sausages, and you can't eat salad without dressing. As for soda, it's only sugary soda you need to fear, so diet coke for life. Now you know and can adjust your diet accordingly

And here I was pondering if I need a supplement to protect my eyes from blue light. All I get is blue light when I’m awake. TV, iPad - that’s mostly what I do! I’m even doing some reading on the tablet. And all the computer time I’ve had in the past. Jeez looouuueeeeeezzz. Should I assume the damage is done?

Do you wear glasses? If so just get the lenses with the blue light glare coating. That's what I have.
And I think the blue light thing is more about eye strain more than anything else. I was told to take a break every 30 minutes and face away from the screen. Either focus on something outside, or something like a wall or the floor for 2-3 minutes to give your eyes a break.

I have to like "stretch" my eyes by looking away from the screens andmove them around the room in all directions and try to "focus" on peripheral vision. Sometimes the pain is pretty intense and it's getting to where I will need to take days off from as much screen time as possible. My glasses have been coming in more handy every day too, which sucks but I still think they print everything so small now that it's demonic publishers and salt drones making my eyes hurt.

Contacts don’t have the blue light protection and I don’t use reading glasses for tv. But that’s an idea - I’ll see if I can find readers that provide protection from blue light. I bought a gross of cheap readers on Amazon a while ago (I’m hard on them and also lose them occasionally) but am willing to get some that will protect my eyes.

Oh yeah, you can definitely get readers with blue light protection built in, so go that way!

It looks like the “blue light blocker” supplements contain the same ingredients that I’m already getting in the other 4 supplements I’m taking (mainly Lutein and Zeaxanthin). So reading glasses will at least help with phone/computer/tablet use.

I have a friend (she adopted 2 LH dachshunds from me, is active in rescue) who had her second surgery for a detached retina. This one involved only one eye. The surgery she had a month ago was on both eyes. I have been following her regimen closely. She has to lie, face down, for the majority of the time - for about 2 weeks! Yikes! She has a farm with a bunch of rescues - a mini cow, a giant pot bellied pig, many hens, turkeys, peacocks and peahens, many other birds, goats and barn cats. That doesn’t include the indoor birds she’s rescued - parrots, doves, finches, etc. Her husband is taking care of the bulk of the work. Some of her friends are helping out when they are able.

That totally sucks Pam! I hope the surgery is successful for her. Glad that she has people around to help with the herding too.

She has a chronic retinal ailment, but I can’t remember the name. Hopefully, I don’t have this to look forward to. I have 4 chronic eye ailments that can blind me but this isn’t one of them. My blindness will most likely start in the middle of the eye.

I received my blue light blocking readers today and I notice the difference already. I got them larger - in a rounder shape so that they cover my eyes completely. In the past, I’ve preferred the oblong shape that sits on the end of my nose, allowing me to just raise my eyes so I can see above them. Now I actually have to remove the glasses or move my head. I may have more neck strain in my future. But I feel like my eyes are less strained.

Okay. Not only am I paying astronomical prices for my Diet Coke to have it delivered, but now I’m reading how awful aspartame is for your eyes. I knew it was bad but I didn’t know it can cause blindness. I just may have to give it up for good now. 😢😢😣😣😬😱😱😬 diet-sage.com/health-news/the-deadly-sweetener-you-must-avoidThe above article doesn’t talk about blindness specifically, but an email I received from the friendly physician that sells eye vitamins did discuss a case of a woman that used aspartame much more than I. She went blind.
