warm out of the oven (from scratch) peanut butter cookies and an ice cold Yuengling Hershey's Chocolate Porter
And for the bob's or not.... I might have just started a holiday trend called the Hershey's Kiss alcoholic beverage

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
You’re giving me nightmares of the peanut M&Ms/beer belches I had to endure. And it was Schmidt’s.

Schmidt's. Now that's not a name I've heard in many moons.
My dad used to come home and polish off a couple of 6s of it every night. Was so normal for me that I was shocked to be told he was an alcoholic - just thought every dad did that shit. Who knew?

We used to buy that shmidt in high school. Only the true drunks continue drinking cheap beer all their lives. I am much more discriminating in my taste and tolerance profiles. And then there's the end of the month, which often requires switching to the High Life. Still the best shmidt out there for the money.

My dad could down a shmidt with the best of them. Learned in the Navy as a kid - enlisted underage to fight in WWII. When they found his actual age, they sent him to a base in Alaska to serve out the war with the old men who were useless but couldn't be discharged for various reasons. Definitely a different sort of hell, especially for a kid who wasn't quite 17 yet.

My husband started drinking beer to gain weight, he said. He was always a little man - 150 maybe, soaking wet. Every time we left the house, it was with a cooler in tow. I have been accused of drunk driving a few times because of his inability to be without Schmidt’s for a short ride. (If Schmidt’s was unavailable, he would buy Budweiser. But he never turned down a free drink.). Yes, I’m still bitter.

My dad was a stick. About 6'1" and couldn't have been more than 160 - he was thin as a rail. But a damn handsome devil too. And when he was sober he was great to be around - funny as hell and super intelligent.
It's sad that he spent my entire childhood drunk - finally sobered up in the last decade of his life, and did his best to make some amends. He didn't have an easy childhood and it carried over to his adult life.

My husband never sobered up intentionally. He was hospitalized for nearly 2 years so went through a pretty easy withdrawal from both alcohol and cigarettes. But, as soon as he came home, he was back at it. With a colostomy bag.
My dad was a sad drunk. I never saw him drunk (he had a beer or two, but never overindulged in front of the kids), but heard stories.

Addiction is a sad disease and difficult to understand.
I remember my dad saying that the first time he got drunk he felt like shit the next day. But the guys on the base was all great to him - said he was the life of the party, and were patting him on the back. He was a very introverted kid, and really wanted them to just accept him and stop harassing him. He said that getting drunk made him feel like a regular guy and pretty soon if he wasn't drunk he was totally miserable. And by the time he wanted to control it, it was controlling him instead.
I wish there was more study on why some people become addicted and others don't. Friend's brother is a coke addict who cycles in and out of periods of sobriety. Meanwhile, she can take something like vicodin and just feel woozy - drugs have almost no effect on her, but they hit his bloodstream immediately. I really think there is some sort of genetic disposition to it, and I also wonder if there's a chemical component as well.
So John can get shitfaced and walk away, but Bob gets shitfaced and his body just begs to do it again and again.

No. We want you to go to YA - there are so many other beers out in the world - you need to admit you are powerless to leave your first love to try some of them!

I posted visual evidence yesterday (or whatever day it was) on the faceplace that proves you wro...! Yes. They were all the same brand...... so maybe you were partially rr...... uh.... but I don't even have a first love, lady. If I had to choose just one I would probably die. Or quit. But the point is that I quite enjoy a fairly wide selection of current and past offerings of all or most brews made in the world. Except IPAs. BLECH!!

No. You USED to enjoy a wide variety of selections, but now you only have one love - Yungling. And the first step is admitting you have a problem. Step two is to admit that you are powerless in the face of said problem. And somewhere along the line you need to make amends - by partaking of other brands

I know I am susceptible to addiction. I admit I love the escape that alcohol or drugs can provide. I’ve always preferred the sideline/background and really struggled with pushing my set the forefront to achieve my goals. I have zero self confidence, I’m terribly shy and reclusive. I’m a lot like my father in loving alone time. He was happiest puttering around the yard, weeding or pruning; or working on a refinishing or upholstery project in his workshop.

I have a whole crate of empty Dos Equis bottles in the gay Raj and under that is a whole crate of empty Modelo bottles. Only one crate of empty Yuengling bottles. So you wrong, Col Sanders, Momma's right.... amends be damned. By the way my first love would have been Michelob in the old lava lamp shaped bottles. Smooth! Bob, I haven't had the Schwatz or the Danzig yet this year but last week I got a 6pk of Spaten Octoberfest that was on-point albeit a bit pricy. Highly recommend.

Back when I drinked the beers, Labatt's was my beer o choice. These days, on the few occasions I do drink, I likes me a Malibu and diet coke.

I have had a few rounds of Labatt's (Blue). I like Moosehead more better.

Labatt's (green) was cheaper at the time than the moose.

Moosehead was kind of pricy around here back in the day but they always were doing cool promotions. I still have a MH bottle opener that is the same size and shape of a credit card so it fits right in my wallet.

Back when I drank beer, I’d drink anything we could get our hands on (high school) or was free or cheap (college). I think that’s why I hate beer so much. That hoppy taste gags me. I tried Zima for a short while - adding lime could mask the hops a little. Wine and rum are more to my taste.

I was the opposite in HS - Boones Farm all the way. Proof that one's tastebuds take a loooooooooong time to develop. But Boones Farm showed that you had class - not like Old Thunderbird or MD 20/20 - only drunks had that on them!

You had to drink the MD20-20 at least once. The better option as far as puking your guts out was Wild Irish Rose or Manaschewitz (?). Reunite (?"LOL?) was for the rich kids.
The last time I had wine by the glass wasn't that long ago. I love a good Reisling for both sipping and cooking with. I also like Malbec for a red, and for cold nights. We also keep a master jug of Sangria on hand at all times since that's about the only thing momma will drink with me. That and fireball shots.

I was drinking a blush - Gerwurztraminer or something like that.
My parents would have cold duck on special occasions. 🤣🤣
Minx - when we could get wine, we would definitely drink it. I also stole most of the liquor from my parents cabinet several times, replacing it with water.

Had a mango margarita this past Sunday. Twas being paid for by others, so had it made with Patron. OMG! Wish I was rich enough to just have a bottle on standby.

Oh yeah that's my jam. I'm usually good for one bottle a year..... come to think of it, it's probably been two years since last time I picked one up. It doesn't last long either since she likes when I make tequila sunrises. I've been using Corozón Silver 100% Agave, much more reasonably priced for mixing but you wouldn't want to do shots of it. A little bit harsh on the soft tissues and mucus membranes for my liking.

Yeah, I usually don't do a lot of tequila, but that Patron would make me change my mind fast!

Texas Roadhouse does a pretty good Patron margarita but I would caution encourage everyone to try their best to drink at least 2 doubles (they allow you to order them with 2 shots) and let the good times roll.
