I’ve listened to Howard’s interview with Neil Young several times (he was interviewed Wednesday). He was promoting his new album, World Record, which dropped this past Friday. It sounds pretty good from what I heard during the interview. It is climate-related, as you probably deduced from the title. But the thing that tickled me was how Neil seemed so grumpy at times. (He did have to take a couple pee breaks, so maybe he was having issues.) Howard loves to take specific songs and dig deep into what they are about, how they were written/developed/produced, etc. Neil wasn’t interested in that. There were long pauses, sighs, one-word answers. But once the new album came up, he was Chatty Cathy. And, the environment? He can and will talk about that forever (with pee breaks, of course). At times, he seemed frustrated with Howard’s questions and comments. He’s always been a difficult interview. But grumpy old man comes through a lot more now.

I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don't need him around anyhow.
He was never a charismatic person to start with.

He can be. I’ve listened to his live albums thousands of times. He can be charming. But he doesn’t work at it.
A couple weeks ago, Bruce Springsteen was on with Howard. He spent over 2 hours talking about everything, playing/singing - it was amazing (and I’m not a huge Springsteen fan). (It will be on HBO over the thanksgiving weekend.). This is what Howard wants with every artist that comes in. He’s tried with Neil several times, but he doesn’t take the bait.
I think his persona makes me like him even more. I am not charismatic either, but I also have no talent to back it up. 🤣🤣
