Forgot to mention this, but the Live PD thread reminded me. On election day, one of the stafford deputies came in to vote. He was wearing his vest with the K-9 notifications on it. So as he passed me, I said "Hold on - I'm not sure I can allow you to vote - where's your dog?" He replies "Oh, I don't know - running around somewhere out there" So I said "Yeah, running around bitin everyone, right?" He laughed and said "He's living his best life!" When he left I said "Don't go trying to control that dog now - let him have his fun today!" We both laughed. But I just have this picture of a tough German Shepard running around biting everything in sight - the air, leaves, sticks, bugs. Living his best life

This iteration of LivePD doesn’t show as much of the dogs working. I love watching their devotion, enthusiasm and loyalty. When that siren goes on, you can feel their excitement (and hear it 🤣🤣). And the UK police K9s are mostly hounds from what I saw, but there were a couple mixed or scruffy breeds too.
There’s a woman on Facebook that has an Italian hound (I can’t think of his specific breed name right now). I started following her when she had Spinones. This guy is a bundle of energy. She takes him to a trainer for birding skills and posts videos and photos of some of the sessions. He escaped a few months ago (that’s when I discovered she wasn’t too far from me because I received the lost dog notification). She also has a Coton and her husband recently adopted a doodle to take with him on business trips. But watching Bravo work is fascinating - his intensity and joy is amazing.

Here’s a pic of Bravo, the Bracco Italiano. His tail is docked, although some online breed photos show them with full tails. My GBGV friend also does sports with her dog: rat sniffing, sniffing competitions, and that chasing thing they do (I can’t remember the name for it). That sport, any dog can do. It’s just chasing a lure. I think Dresi may excel.
