Well, she's not wrong. I do believe a majority of Alaskans were in favor of this. Because they get a nice large state subsidy based on oil production. And by subsidy, I mean the state cuts them a check. In 2022 it was $3200 and change for each resident. So yeah, I can see them cheering.
I suspect the Inuit people who are watching their way of life disappearing due to climate change and are facing having to leave their land behind aren't as thrilled though.

I'm not sure that drilling wells is anywhere as big an issue as refining the crude, which I am not sure is done in Alaska or if it's piped to Texas. Also, 250 wells on 95 million acres doesn't seem like a lot to me HOWEVER if I want to tale off the gloves I'd remind everyone that just like Brandon was FOR sunsetting SS and Medicare before he was AGAINST it, he was AGAINST permitting new drilling on federal land before he was FOR it.
As you wrote previously, we need him to step away from the 2024 election and the Democrats need to start grooming viable candidates NOW to face DeSantis/Youngkin.

Oh refining the crude is the bigger thing I'm sure. But I guess the Alaskan pipeline wasn't carrying as much crude as it used to be doing, so there was a threat to those payments being severely cut back. And lots of people rely on those payments to make it through the month.
I'm sure no True Republican would say it's like a form of welfare though. All of them pulled themselves up by the bootstraps of being located on a huge bed of oil.
