Figured I'd go on ahead and get an estimate for replacing the siding that was removed for the project, and while I was at it, they can price up repairing/replacing the lower pieces around the house. There are panels with holes caused by shit astrewn by mowers and trimmer etc.
Goofles me some "siding repair frederiskburg va". Free quotes online. Sure why not. Enters me address and phone number........ ......... .. Texts and calls start blowing up with a mere minute. Caller ID- California, Texas, and a bunch of 804s and 703s. How many voicemails you wanna guess are robo?
A guy even pulls up out front. No not a random 2002 Honda Accord but a massive effin landscaping truck and closed trailer combo with easily 10 grand in just the vinyl on both and HIS FACE as his logo. Seems he got our info off of HOME ADVISER since I noticed their logo. Not faulting him or the other locals for hustling and doing business with what's available (for a small fee of course) on the real real. But HOME ADVISOR on the other hand is using fake and misleading tactics to farm.......
Ok ya know what? I know I fucked something can't be unfucked. The most pitiful part is that I know better and I pulled a "I just did EXCACTLY what I've warned you about 100 times".

Been there, done that sadly. Didn't have someone pull up outside the house unsolicited though!

Definitely not something people would want to do in this day and age unless they rolled up in that kind of rig. With all that advertising believe me, no one is going to be guessing what he was here for. If it had been say a rusty old Ford Aerostar with blacked out windows and NY tags..... maybe a different reception.

One thing I absolutely refused to do was residential cold calling. Very few people want to see a random stranger on their porch or in their driveway. Even fewer want people trying to sell them windows and doors.
I had no problem cold calling my commerical clientele. I was pretty good at it, probably because I knew they wouldn't ignore me or yell at me to go away. Even when they had no interest at all, they'd politely say thanks but we have a guy. To which I would politely excuse myself and suggest the keep my card on file just in case. And leave them with a "you never know".

OMG, yes!
I have to say that I do feel sorry for the dudes who used to go door-to-door doing that. You know they had to have been sold a bill of goods on how rich they'd get by doing it.
And I too despise cold calling. If you've expressed interest, it's one thing. But otherwise, NO!
