So now that the VA legislature has torpedoed the grand stadium plan for the moment, more figures are coming out on how the revenue for this boondoggle was calculated.
Total events held each year = 231 (more than what the current Cap Center holds now) Hotel being built by arena will have occupancy of 85% with an average room rate of $735/night All arena parking will be full at $75/night And of course the majority of seats are sold for each event or the arena itself sells out.
I truly, truly want some of the shit these guys are on. In fact, I believe I need it.
Oh and lest we forget, the traffic study was performed based entirely on the home games for both the Wizards and Caps (in the area of 100 events a year).
Like I mentioned, I really need some of the shit these folks are on.

It's beyond me how people are so easily sold on the finest bullshit.
I can't remember the last time I went through any part of Nova except on 95. Best guess would be somewhere between 7 and 10 years ago. I remember doing a church install "way out" in Herndon. The traffic getting there, via 17 to 28 was absolutely brutal coming and going. Finally started working odd hours for my industry but it probably saved me 1000 hours of sitting in rush our both ways. Leaving right at 4 am only meant you were 80% likely to be to job by 7.
So as far as traffic... If you want to get there in time for face-off ya better head out soon.

Don't forget that a HUGE part of that traffic study relied on Metro expanding the station at that location significantly before the arena opens. Along with Arlington county expanding bus service so people could park further away and then get a bus over to the arena.
So yeah, this is going to work out like a charm for sure.

Hahahaha! When VA said 'slow your roll dude', Leonsis immediately scheduled a meeting with Larry Hogan to discuss moving the teams to MD.
If I were Bowser, I'd withdraw the offer to help renovate Cap One Center, and use it to make improvements to the area around it - incentives to move or open a business in that area, more police on the streets, move some good events there. And say that more money will come if Teddy Boy tries to break the lease for the arena. Because they love the teams for sure, but they're not planning on being held hostage to a billionaire's demands.
And also say that any money they get from the lease being broken will immediately go to hire more police and provide more services to EVERYONE in the city regardless of where you live. Bet he might be changing his tune a little, especially if MD and VA don't give him what he wants.

You know who loses if everything stays the way it is? Nobody. It's a "missed opportunity" for a couple of wealthy people to get wealthier, and that's about it. Maybe Youngkin doesn't get to boost his portfolio a dozen times before the first person ever steps foot in the new Wet Dream Arena before heading off to bigger and better things.
