The hot water upstairs is taking longer and longer to get hot.
Mr. Minx says I'm full of it, but I know what hot water should feel like and how long it should take to get upstairs, and this is not cutting it!
So I hit da Google. Number 1 recommendation is to drain your water heater. Read instructions from several articles, and also watched about 5 you tube videos.
I am ready! Ready I say!
Go to look at the water heater. Damn husband has put a metric ton of crap in front of it (nothing touching it, just have to move a ton of shit to get to it). Do I want to move this shit? Of course not. Even more, I don't want to put it back after the water heater is finished.
Should I suck it up and do it anyway? Probably, but now I'm inclined to wait again.
Yours in laziness.

If I may-
"Flushing" the water might work. There's a better chance the drain valve won't close completely when you're done AND there's a chance it won't actually solve anything. My rule on water heaters is any problems other than a bad element on electric ones after 10 years it's time to replace that bad boy. On gas it's more like 8 years with any issue whatsoever not fixable with the settings.
Ours hot water literally takes 5 full minutes to get to the shower in the master bath but in this case I think a recirculating pump would be a solve needed even with a new unit.

Thank you sir! I will try flushing first. Can't remember exactly how old this bad boy is, but could very well be approaching the 10 year mark.

It's electric right? If so, make sure to kill power at the breaker before you drain it and don't turn back on until it's completely refilled.

I always wanted to have a zappy ending so breaker on it is!
Mr. Minx wants to be present for this great event. Mainly because he thinks I'm full of shit and is looking forward to proving me wrong on any water heat change.
That boy-o better be careful what he wishes for - you can order a new heater online and have it delivered, and he has to sleep sometime...
What I really should be doing right now is heading out to get a lawn mower. Our old one has finally given up after 15 years of hard use, and he's being super picky about a new one. I want to note that I had to purchase the one that just died, and it was a nice mower (even he admitted it) that didn't have tons of bells and whistles.

Yeah you don't want to get a charge out of life like that on an ez Sundee Mornin.
what will happen if you drain the water out while the heater is still powered up is- the heating elements inside will be sitting there glowing red in mid-air, and when you go to refill it, the cold water will hit that element and I have seen them literally explode inside the tank. ALWAYS wait until the unit is full before turning the breaker back on.
As for mowers- The only one I really liked when I was looking was the Toro self-propelled. They had it at Tractor Supply but it ain't cheap. I have been in the market for a riding mower (used because damn 3000 bucks for a new one) but the daughter's husband is supposed to be bringing me his busted John Deere. Supposedly runs and cuts but has a problem with draining batteries and no brakes. I probably know a guy that has time to tinker with it and fix it up. Our yard is so small it's kind of embarrassing to cut with a rider but pushing a mower is no longer an option.

It's on tap (see what I did there) for next weekend.
Our last one was a Toro (I think). It had all wheel drive. Knowing nothing about mowers, all I remembered that our last one was rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive is good in snow, so why not on grass? Plus is was on sale. And by sale, I mean a real steal.
Thing yanked us all off our feet the first time we used it! Of course one of the big issues right now is the sticker shock of another mower. Companies deserve to make record profits though, am I right?
