As I was waiting between eye drop applications last night/early this morning, I heard a loud bang from the backyard. First thought - my tree finally gave up the fight. His needles have been turning brown all fall and winter, so it was obvious he was dying. As I figured, when I made my way downstairs today, I can see it has dropped onto the fence. I can’t tell the damage (I’m afraid to step on the rotting deck) yet. I’ll venture out tomorrow after it dries a little bit and survey the results. At least it will be more convenient to get it out now.
I knew all the rain we have been having recently would rush his demise.

🤣🤣I’ve used a chainsaw once and it was an electric one that I borrowed from a friend to clean up storm mess at my mom’s when I was caring for her. I can’t envision using a chainsaw with one hand, while the other is gripping my cane to keep myself upright. My balance is worsening by the day. I bought some Hoka shoes, hoping they would provide some stability. That’s a laugh! I got them yesterday and am having to learn to walk again. 🤣🤣

Is the tree entirely in your yard? Otherwise, you need Mr. Chainsaw to come over and help.

Not as bad as I expected! Looks like the majority of the fence is okay. Just the decorative topping is fucked. But that has been damaged by falling branches in several places so 🤷

I noticed today that it wasn’t so much the soft, wet ground that caused it to finish the fall. I can see, from my deck door, that the trunk actually broke.
And most likely, if it had fallen from a fully upright position, there would have been much more damage. So, I’m lucky that it partially fell a couple years ago.

It's too bad that Rally isn't here to celebrate the demise of that tree.
I miss that dude...
And remember that today is April 1st Fools!

My yard guy came by yesterday and took care of the tree. He was blocked by it last week when he attempted to mow in the back. Although it was supposedly covered in the quote that he gave me for the entire yard, I’ll put add something extra to his payment this month.

I texted his dad to thank him (I worked with dad for many years, and he has assisted me with a past tree/fence issue).

So, after getting an odd response to my text, I hobbled around back this afternoon to actually see the “results”, and I was mistaken. I guess it was an optical illusion created by shadows that made me think the tree had been removed (I don’t have a good clear view from the windows of that area). Now I feel like a complete idiot and very much deserve that weird response (“I will let Drew know how you’re doing.”) I’m guessing insane? Demented? I swear I heard a chainsaw earlier in the day!
