There really is no other word that can be used to describe SCOTUS right now.
Major election is coming up. Former president is running for office.
Said former president is being accused and indicted on crimes that allegedly occurred during his presidency. Crimes are serious ones affecting national security. If convicted, he should be jailed and never allowed to hold another elected office.
Former president says that he has done nothing criminal and everything he's accused are things he was allowed to do legally as president.
Prosecuting attorney goes to supreme court and asks them to rule on presidential immunity. They tell him to go through the normal federal courts first, then they'll decide if there's a case here or not. Don't agree, but fair enough - you shouldn't be able to leapfrog over the process.
Federal appellate court rules unanimously that these types of charges are most definitely NOT covered under presidential immunity.
But SCOTUS still needs to hear and consider the legalities of this? And they refuse to expedite the hearing or their decision. Despite the facts here:
1) Trump has been accused of an extremely serious crime - he has the right to defend himself in a court of law, and the right to a speedy trial.
2) Trump is running for the presidency of the United States and at this time will be the Republican nominee. Do the American people not have the right to know that his behavior was allowed or not?
3) An election is coming up quickly. In order for it to be completely fair, Mr. Trump deserves to make his case and be judged by a jury of his peers.
I swear to Christ that if they rule that Trump had the right to do this that Biden should have some fun in his last days in office - bypass Congress and grant full citizenship to every person inside the borders of the US on November 6th - only proof you need is a dated selfie of yourself in front of a flag.
Arrest and deport the entire state legislators of every red state to Gitmo.
Engrave the words 'Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness' - Thus sayth the Lord Thy God' on every available inch of the White House, and attribute it to Trump's new bible.
Or maybe he could refuse to cede the office to a known traitor. Wouldn't that be fun?
Motherfucking scumbags - the entire lot of them. And it should be noted that RBG played a large role in bringing us to this point. Obama asked her to retire earlier in his second term so he could appoint someone who was moderate. She refused because she didn't think it would be a problem (and I'm sure that she enjoyed the power and prestige). Well Guess What?
