I went to see the rapture folks, and I was disappointed - by the traffic, seems like most of us are still around... Long-ass drive -we went north of Indianapolis to a town called Windfall and stayed with friends. Had the best homemade cinnamon rolls on the face of the earth, got to play with some cats, tons of pooches and their grandkids. Oh yeah, there was an eclipse too. Holy crap, was that an amazing thing to behold! took a while for the moon to go completely in front of the sun, so we didn't spend our time continually looking up. Friend's son and 6yo grandson was with us (other kid and grandkids went to the next town over to watch). Son had a welding helmet and let his kid look through it, but nooooooo. Only the cool glasses would do I was glad I was where I was to see it. His dogs seem to take turns barking - one stops and another starts. They also have ducks and chickens. All along, they were barking, clucking and quacking. About 5 minutes before totality, they increased their volume. Then at totality, silence. Complete and utter silence. Was super cool, but super weird at the same time. And the totality was so, so, so cool. It's hard to describe. Within 5 minutes of it ending, the dogs started barking again, but the ducks were sound asleep. We were too far from the chicken coop to see if they were asleep as well. Well worth the drive out. 6 hours to Pittsburgh. Overnight in a hotel, then 5.5 to their house. 3.5 from there to my SIL (more on that later), then 9 home. My little car got a full workout!

This was the best I’ve seen. From one of those fancy NASA telescopes.

I tried glancing with my ridiculously dark set of sunglasses but that was a resounding failure. Also seemed like the sun was very high in the sky and tiny-ish. Some friends got good pictures on their phones, somehow.

Almost all of my pictures suck. Yet others less than 5 minutes away have fantastic ones.
Guess I'm just a shitty photographer...
