2021, North Stafford. Man forces a pre-teen into his car after she gets off the bus. Girl is quick-witted enough to escape from the car when his back is turned and run for it.
Dude was just sentenced to 60 years with 27 suspended for kidnapping with intent to defile. Sounds like justice to me.
So why are people who actually DO rape and defile children being sentenced to less than 10 years? Seems to me like if you're getting 33 for holding a kid against their will and merely thinking about doing something, then actually DOING IT should net you the same if not more.
And I'm tired of hearing the same old shit about protecting a child victim from appearing in court. Doesn't seem like this girl had to testify in open court, and we certainly don't have a 5 year old who witnessed their mother's murder called as a witness. So there should be some way of protecting an underaged victim from appearing in open court in front of their rapist, yet allowing questioning from a defense attorney.

Every. Fucking. Word. Truth.
It's absolutely sickening how terrible the justice system can be sometimes, especially when it comes to sentencing that meets the level of the crime. No person convicted of sexually assaulting a young child should ever see the light of day again IMO but just as importantly, should never be given back their freedom. Same goes for just about all rapists and murderers, but when it's crime against the very young that should be considered the worst of the worst and punished accordingly.
