I hate them!
I currently have Pandora. You have to either 'curate a playlist' or you can choose a station. Same songs over and over. Had the same when I was using Spotify.
So I signed up for Deezer. Better selection - you select artists and they create a playlist based on them.
BUT THE ADS! THE ADS!
Mind you, I don't mind ads - just maybe play them every 4 songs instead of every other song perhaps?
Of course, this is how they rope you in to coughing up the bux each month though.

The kids got me a Spotify gift card that sat here a while and I finally set up a "premium" account. It's not bad. I have at least 20 playlists started, and some with of 50 songs in them. But I was fine with the free version of Pandora and picking the stations. The ads were minimal.

In terms of ads, Pandora is the best one. I like Deezer, but not the every other song ad.

It's a far cry from stacking a dozen 45s on the record player, that's for sure. Or putting your cassette recorder up to the radio to record your favorite songs. I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

Sirius/Xm owns Pandora. I’m not surprised to hear they have ads. I get really frustrated with Howard’s show because at times there are at least 5 minutes of ads! And I’m fucking paying to hear them! I still have my original iPod, although it is crapping out more and more often. I have a newer one, but it doesn’t fit on the charger/speaker. I have a new set of earbuds on the way designed explicitly for side sleepers. They may fix the problem.

Yeah, Sirus pisses me off big time! You can pay the other services to remove ads and other crap. But Sirus not only wants you to pay, but expects you to listen to the damn ads too!

Yeah - usually the premium streaming have no ads, unlike sirus.
OTOH, I did get sirus free with my car, so maybe they're losing money hand over fist by doing shit like that.

They (Sirius) had a big to-do earlier this year where they presented a new, updated logo and announced an updated app. The app rollout was a disaster. There are a lot of bugs, or removed capabilities that have garnered many many complaints. I don’t use the app because it requires streaming, but I’ve seen lots of carping in the Stern groups that I read.
