Been listening to a podcast called Ransom. About a 12 year old boy who was kidnapped and murdered back in Sept 1995. One of those kids where the parents did all the right things. Weren't strict, but did have rules and discipline. Made kid do his homework and chores - stuff like that.
Turns out that a family friend did it. Kid called him Uncle Hinty (name was Hilton Conrad), and he had been in their lives since the kid was 2. Hinty claims that yeah, he kidnapped the kid but HE wasn't the one who killed him - all he did was beat the kid unconscious with a flashlight when he was making noise trying to pry the trunk of the car open with a crowbar he found (damned resourceful kid IMO). It was his his partner in crime who came up with the idea and planned it all out - and he was the one who shot him and left his body in an abandoned swamp.
They've never found said "partner". Uncle Hinty was sentenced to the death penalty and was executed in 2008.
What an utter piece of shit.
