I'll just post here one of my continuous learning experiences.
Learning something new every day dept. - our camera club has a shoot tomorrow at a 18th century house (Chatham, 10 AM if you're interested) that has had a lot of famous people sleep there, and I wanted to clean my lenses before I got there. Sooo... I opened the camera case and fished around for the lens cleaning fluid and... empty. It has a snap-on cap that of course got unsnapped in the bumping of being in the soft-sided case, sooo... what to do?
Amazingly, according to the net, a mixture of Windex and water, 1:1, is ideal for camera lenses. I thought it would be too harsh, but no. Got a cotton ball to apply it, and used lens cleaning tissue to remove it, and... clean as a whistle, much better than the results with the official lens cleaning fluid anyway. Sooo... cool... learn something new every day.
BTW, I don't know if this applies to any cameras with plastic lenses, and I don't know if all cell phones have or don't have plastic lenses, so... don't trust this for other than your big SLR with no-nonsense real glass lenses unless you know for sure.
