I don't know.... That particular asshole's been making the rounds for a few years now. If he was sucking dick in an alleyway, we would have probably heard about it already.

Does anyone else see the irony in asking for prayers for the victims here, when it's religion that may have gotten them killed?

You can certainly (and I'm sure you will) correct me if I'm wrong but prayer is not biblically (I don't know about the other manuals) prescribed for wishing ills upon others. Remember too that I'm looking at it from a little different perspective than your mainstream bible-based Christian. I have thrown out the OT completely.
I also assert that religion does not kill people any more than guns kill people, although we know for a fact that either can be very dangerous in the hands of the wrong people.

Surely he doesn't see what he and ISIS, Taliban, et al have in common. I truly hope that one fine and glorious day this fucking retarded asshole gets to explain to Jesus why he perverted everything he stood for and how he drove people away from that mission.

Nobody ever gets eternal punishment for killing Teh Gays. Not even threatened, though Teh Gays are responsible for all manner of ills befalling the nation, because #HatershaveaGodnamedGodbutsometimesAllah .
PS Goofle up "imprecatory prayer", they're in Psalms. And that IS that OT crap (I know local Spotsylvanians made such imprecations). And about that OT crap, something something fulfill. It's a wacky collection of tales, that's for sure!

Jesus had nothing to say against the gays, and he hung around with a marginalized group. He would've been hanging with the gays, saying to the haters, "Yo, why you bitches be hating? Are you perfect? Then step off."
'Nuff said.
PS Jesus DID have something to say about divorce. He wasn't exactly for it. Just saying.

My implication that religion may have gotten these people killed comes from the lack of any legitimate secular objection to homosexuality.

I read it as: The secular world has no objection to homosexuality. All objections to homosexuality originate from religious speakers.

I strongly disagree.
That's like saying there's no racism or sexism in secularism.
There are, I assume, plenty of people who are averse to homosexuality in the absence of religious beliefs. I'd bet tons of atheiests, agnostics are big ol homo haters too.
Once upon a time, I considered myself completely without religious beliefs and I thought homosexuality was unnatural (laws of nature thing) and a mental illness, and did not generally act kindly or accepting towards them. This while probably in de nile of the fact that my brother was among the ranks of the fit and fabulous.
When I became "religious", I dropped my ill feelings for them for the most part. Perhaps the timing was such and conditioning, or maturity if you prefer, that led to a shift in attitude but it's difficult to know which came first, or if one simply complimented the other.

I would suggest that while individuals can be homophobic and bigoted, I am unaware of organized secular groups that push such ideas. I am well aware of many organized religious groups that are very vocal in hating on people for being Other of any form.
I would suggest that while the figure is more than zero for secularist haters of gays, it pales in comparison to the many religious haters of gays. Like, probably outnumbered more than 100:1 by religious haters. And in this country, it's gay hating Christian groups that regularly vilify and inspire violence against gays. Not so much Muslim groups (and this recent killer's expressions of loyalty to daesh, which the Feebs say has no hard connection, sound to me like CYA. So to speak.).

Without data, I stand by my statement, without prejudice, your onner.
BTW- Muslim states (The Kingdom, Iran, Yemen, etc) and their anti-gay die if you do laws maybe? Come on man. You can do better than that.

Yeah, who promoted that stuff? American Christian leaders, among others. And what would they do in this country? Definitely strip rights.
