Taking the ball and going home.Boy, they sure are doing a whole lot to dispel the notion that a lot of cops are thin-skinned assholes who bully their way out of any discussion of policing reform. Also, what a brave stand to take to walk off a job when the players were talking so highly about the Dallas PD. Why don't the Mpls. PD support their brothers in blue from Dallas?

Sign o the times doncha knoh. (My MN accent)
Why the teams and players (and others) of these sports have to make political statements while on the job is out of line IMO. Maybe people could just spend their 500 bucks to see a sporting event without the fucking news and commentary eh?

Yes, they should all be politically correct.

Don't know what you mean by that. To me, there's a time and a place for things. Like during Sunday Night Baseball is not the time for Curt Schilling to talk about liberals and political correctness. for example. Nor would it be proper for the coaching staff of Texas A&M Football to all wear "BUILD THAT WALL" hats to the Bourbon Bowl. So players wearing Black Lives Matter shirts to the game venue is equally inappropriate in my humble yet meaningless ignorant uninformed opinion.

Cops leaving was a political statement. They could have behaved professionally.
The players weren't blocking the street or making a big scene, were they? I haven't read more than they wore shirts. And maybe not real professional either. However, there has been a tradition of political protest with athletic games. We've boycotted Olympics for politics.

Blame the media. If they didn't ask everyone their opinion and give them a camera to say it in front of, it wouldn't happen.

Those cops decided not to supper and protect people who support a group that promotes shooting cops. I would have walked out too. At least the black players knew they needed to change, per the T shirts....

Those cops decided not to supper and protect people who support a group that promotes shooting cops. The Dallas police department promotes shooting cops? Also, if you think anyone is promoting shooting cops, then your racism has truly warped your sense of reality. Not that that would be entirely shocking, you're voting for Trump after all.

I'm just still trying to figure out the verb form of "supper." Was he going for "suffer" and off by half the keyboard? "Support" and he had a stroke for the 2nd half of the word?

"Save The Whales" doesn't mean "Screw The Eagles".

Wow, I wish I could just walk out of my office anytime a client said something I found offensive or disagreed with.
I understand that many cops feel that #BLM is short for "Let's Get All the Cops", but they are paid to protect the people, not just the ones they like, or are friendly, but ALL people.
I've had encounters with the police on more than one occasion, and for the most part, they have been polite, professional and decent. OTOH, I have had encounters with downright rude officers, where my whole motivation was to get the hell out of there. Mind you, I'm a nice middle-class white woman. Can't imagine an encounter with a cop who has an attitude if I were black or brown.
As others have noted, the police need to police themselves better - most of them are solid professionals, and don't go looking for trouble, or panic at the slightest offense. However, the ones who are unprofessional, or who get their jollies over being brutal, along with those who are terrified to do their basic job need to be weeded out IMO.

Well if they "feared for their safety" then it was better that they left, without the hail of bullets notwithstanding.

TThey were off duty cops....walked off the job.....should be fired from that part time job.. And promoted or given award on police force..... I've had very few interactions with the police...never did they act like ass holes,,,even when they dragged my ass out of my truck at gun point.

Same here, Minx.......most have been great but there have been a couple that were total and complete assholes. I was thankful that I was a sweet, innocent, old white lady. And it pissed me off that it was my tax dollars paying for that shit! And what's up with this whole "feared for my safety" business? It's like they think they are the only ones with dangerous jobs. If you are a fisherman and too scared to go out on the scallop boat (dangerous work, btw) then maybe you need to find another occupation.

Yeah, that never happened. I can believe it. Quite a few years ago I had rented a trailer from Navy Special Services to move some stuff for my sister from Atlanta to Williamsburg. I was going through NC and unknown to me the police had a report of a stolen government van from Fort Bragg. It was a gray van. I was pulling a big gray trailer with U.S. Government painted across the back with govie license plates with a private truck. State Trooper pulled me over, pressed himself to the side of my truck and held me at gun point. After I gave him the rental papers, license, registration, etc. he was very pleasant, thanked me for my cooperation, wished me a safe trip......after giving me a stinking speeding ticket (nevermind there were cars passing me like I was standing still). I can understand his wanting to make sure that it was legit but did the he have to give me a freaking ticket? If it hadn't been so far from home I would have gone to court over it. He admitted that he pulled me because "things just didn't look right". It was the first and only time I had ever had anyone hold a gun on me. At that moment in time I wasn't scared.....just totally bewildered.......a total WTF moment. If it can happen to a sweet old white lady like me.........it can happen to anyone.

So you do understand that traffic stops are just as much, if not more, about revenue than anything else? I'm utterly amazed at people who get pulled over that aren't issued a ticket for something. And nowadays they always have that "processing fee" aka "court fee" to cover any funding shortfalls with minimal fines for the original cite.
