Thanks. I could've eaten a horse last night so this is perfect for today.
In all seriousness Larry, the last couple of times I've jumped at great deals like that on their meat, it's been crap. Almost like they have started breeding store brand livestock. I don't get it. Even the Food Lion meat has been better for the most part and it has a history of being green. They are all goin bye bye and Weis will be here soon.
Gonna try to get to Wegman's one of these days soon. Have never been to it and I think it's about time.

Krogers was supposed to rebrand the Harris Teeter stores,, I went in H.T in Warrenton and asked how soon before they rebrand to Krogers ? Not very soon,,,,, Go into your grocery store and buy a whole rib eye and ask them to custom cut it up for you.. Or a whole pork loin and have them cut it,, I know most won't,,,,never been in Wegmans or Whole Foods,,,,

I know what john means about the taste of meat lately, it seems a little flat. Wegman's sometimes has a special on rib roast, if you buy 4 or more steaks ( about 5 lbs) they will let it out the door for under $7/lb, and they will cut it like you ask. I have done that, and didn't see much difference in quality or taste, my own opinion, of course. Cutting them thick (at least 1", and 1 1'4" is better) doesn't dry it out, and gives it better taste. What REALLY helps the flavor is to dry age it as a rib roast in a refrigerator for a week or so. Just dry the roast with paper towels and put it on a wire rack in the refrigerator for a week or even longer, turning it every 2 0r 3 days. It will lose a little weight but it really concentrates the flavor. Then you can roast it or cut it into steaks as you need.

The rib eyes at Costco are awesome, as are all their beefstuff. Well, were awesome. Haven't been a member there in about a year. Haven't tried Bj's steaks yet. Got a couple tri-tips there that were tits. Just bought a small freezer so I can stock up now.
