Seems that the new carbon regs are going to knock 41 gigawatts offline:

Of course, we don't have to worry, 'cuz "We gots ours" and it'll just be more expensive in order to cause less usage. No problem, right, we can afford that, and there won't be any brown-outs or black-outs because the poor and elderly (usually just more poor) will cut back or turn off their heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer and be found dead of exposure by the pastor or a relative. That's one way to abolish the poor - make it too expensive for them to live here.
The real way to do this is to keep the gov't the H out of it, and just set regulations that encourage making wind / solar / geo / natural gas to be cheaper than coal-fired electricity.
But, as long as there are wild-eyed envirowacko Democrats, we'll continue to abuse the old and the poor.
