If United wants the seat back, they can keep bidding until someone sells. This is supposed to be capitalist America, FFS.

It should be illegal for them to over book their flights. There's no reason they can't have a waiting list. Isn't that what "standby" used to mean anyway?
And cops should not be permitted to interfere in customer service matters like this. The passenger literally didn't do anything that warranted being booted and then ASSAULTED by those asswipes with badges. I hope he sues the living shit out of everyone involved.
Still can't believe he screamed like a little bitch, though.

He was even already boarded. But if you say "no" to any flight crew, you are obviously a terrrrst. So beat him his rights, boyz.
Any airline should have to buy back seats if they want them back. Once they start offering cash instead of never useable vouchers, they'll find volunteers.

Only problem with not being allowed to overbook would be the very real possibility of all tickets being non-refundable. Plus the book now pay later sites which makes it easier to opt out of your booking.

If I planned a trip, paid for my ticket for that seat on that flight, paid to park or had someone take time out of their life to drive me to the airport 3 hours early to get sniffed, xrayed, fondled, strip searched, and fitted for new shoes, checked my bags, stood in line after line........ that's my damn seat and they need to guarantee me that right from the get go.
PS one of the heroes who assaulted to poor guy got suspended. You know the rest.

"Hey, he was all unpleasant about being thrown from the plane. He got what he deserved."
That's the flavor United CEO is sticking with. America, finally Great Again.

Wasn't even that the effing flight was overbooked - United needed to move some crew members to Louisville, so they kicked paying customers off the plane! Scumbags!

Just like you said. Keep sweetening the deal until people can't pass it up. For a ticket on the next flight out, transportation to and from a sweet ass hotel, prime rib, lobster, and all the booze you can tolerate, and a 1000 in funny money.... what's that for 4 passengers? 10 grand? Or this works too, I suppose .

I know this doesn't make it better, but here it is regardless. It was Republic Airlines flying under the "United Express" logo. Still bad PR for United. In no way do I condone the actions of the security people.

United for sure owns the issue, seeing as it's their CEO making public statements.

I agree with you Bob, just saying that it wasn't UA employees who did this. This is what happens to companies who outsource and allow others to use their name. I'm surprised with Munoz comments as the folks I know who still work for UAL think he had done some good for the company up until this point.

I don't know about his good contributions, but right now they need to get his hands off that shovel.
I'm unsurprised that airline folks anywhere treated passengers like stock.
