Yeah I saw that too. WTF?
Saw something on TV last night that said Pabst was the largest seller by volume in the states, followed by InBev and Miller Coors.... I was in a semi-lucid state and hell, it might have been a dream because that almost seems impossible to believe.
Pabst was OEM for the 3 main men in my life (dad, uncle, granddad). It's all they drank and they drank the living shit out of it. I mean granddad would come home from the PX with the ass end of his Grand Fury dragging the road full of PBR. No joke. For me, it's a little nostalgia and a little just "better than most other swill" solid beer beer, and have no aversion to it whatsoever when the mood strikes me.

I'm with you. I'll never turn down an ice cold PBR.

I remember the WaPo ran a story back in 05 or 06 saying that PBR had "jumped the shark" and become main stream...again. The beer that was what our grandfathers and dads drank had become the preferred choice of the "Hipster" until they discovered micro brews.

The problem for hipsters is their taste doesn't jive with their cash flow (they spend all that good beer money on those stupid rectangular glasses and ear guages) and I've seen some of these microbrews go upwards of 15 bucks a 6 pack. PBR is still 7.99 a 12 pack at 7-11

See, I don't bother with any of that "style" stuff (jeans and tee shirts for lyf!), so I have money for good beer. Also, I'm tired of hangovers, headaches, and heartburn, so consumption now is all about quality, not quantity. One good beer a night is just fine with me. Two or three if I'm out, but I rarely have any more than that.

Not a single bottle I recognize in that crowd Way more about quality over quantity now than in the past. I'm really working on the quantity thing. Keeping it to 4 is work. 2 is hard work. 1 is......... so not gonna happen 98% of the time. I think I had 4 or 5 Shiners yesterday. $2 bottles Happy Hour at Cowboy Jacks. No shots. This time. Friday night was ri-dic-u-liss. (Bad Fox Wolf Vanilla Porter x 7 or 8, and couple shits of Tuld Worky) Weeeeeee!

I could probably keep up with you on the Shiners, but add shots in, and I'm sunk. I can do a manhattan, or a jack and coke, but shots and I just don't get along like we did in college.

I'm getting too old for that shit but something in my brain still goes TO-GA! TO-GA! TO-GA! from time to time.
