What ever happened to the old time cop who would see some asswhole wearing nothing that is threatening, going nowhere, threatening no one but himself, would go up to him and knock the shit out of him and just take him to the drunk tank? I know about cell phones, facebook, the media and all, but come on. Once or twice when you are a kid and that crap would stop. You were wrong, figured it out and moved on. That isn't happening now.

Well for starters that "kid" a lot of times these days probably hasn't done anything that required the beat down to begin with and further more we have these pesky little civil rights thingies that apply to everyone whether they're carrying a xbox from the Compton swap meet or a bottle of Snapple and a bag of Skittles they bought all legit like. We've got a serious and deserved mistrust of the police based almost 100% on their mistrust of us and the attitude that compliance with their lawful orders apply even when they do not. With an ever growing police state that randomly selects people based on their demographics and super broad definition of suspicion, one simply needs to be a young black male on a morning jog to be seen as a burglary suspect running from the cops. Check out copblock.com for hundreds of really bad examples of serving and protecting.
I agree that in many cases the person who got bit, beat, and a bullet deserve what they get and the part that really sucks is these social justice warriors with their cell phone capturing mere moments of the situation which we sometimes use as evidence of the whole and it's not fair. Then again sometimes it is. The important thing to remember is that abuse of power in the ever expanding police state is to blame for this, not the douchebag with the cell phone and the Youtube channel.
