to the rheumatologist today and got a new prescription for Tramadol. This time it was accompanied by one for Narcan! Doc said he was required to provide it, but I could fill it or not.
WTF?

It's going to do me a lot of good. If I OD, no one will know. Maybe not until the bill collectors come looking for me! I don't think I pull be cognizant enough to administer it to myself!

Oh okay. I read it as Narco (Vicodin).
Can't say as I've ever heard of anyone getting all cold and blue from Tramadol but I guess too much of anything can't be good for you.

Never know what people will OD from nowadays. I take Restoril to help me sleep. Used to just be able to drop the prescription off and Bob's your Uncle. Last time had to have the doctor fill out some sort of paperwork to get it approved for the next year. Pharmacist said it's so they (insurance) have a record on file of who prescribed it. Supposedly, if I switch doctors they won't refill until I get a new form, then they won't refill anything from the old doctor.
PITA, but got my stuff and I'm good to go on refills. Did make me wonder why they didn't require the same thing for all my level II prescriptions. After all, I can OD on Cymbalta just as easy as Restoril.

Nope, Tramadol doesn't do much as prescribed. I have to take 4 or 5 at a time to get any relief. It really tears up my stomach if I don't take it with food. I don't have that problem with the good stuff. I rarely take it anymore as it has such little effect. No need to give my liver a needless jolt for nothing. But I keep it around for when the pain gets really bad. It may take some of the edge off.
