link ? There may be a little more to this. Maybe the DA thought that a conviction was unlikely.

Maybe the self identified uncle in the comments is right.

Well, since the judge had said the little girl would have to testify with a two-way link, there was probably no way that she could have gone through this without major trauma, and it appears that the prosecutor dropped the ball in getting other evidence admitted. I also suspect that while the girl's mother does love and care about her, that she (mom) has made questionable choices that would make a jury question her credibility. (Cause you know that if you're dating a child molester, you should know by the end of the first date, not when you find out that he's attacked your child....).
I feel absolutely terrible for this 4 year old child, and hope she's getting the help and support she needs.

It's not like "pedophile" was tattooed on his forehead. How can you tell? I mean, assuming he's not a scout leader or pastor/priest...

Oh, I know, but you'd be amazed reading the comments on some of these articles - most common is "How could she stay with that low-life knowing what he did?" Like mom automatically has a place to go, money to live on, and can leave at a moment's notice, when she's probably in shock herself from what her child has told her. Also goes along with the "If it were MY child, I'd....." Well, it's NOT your child, and don't be so sure you would kill or main the person automatically - what if you're 5' and he's 6'1"? Bet you'd think twice about attacking him, and think more about how to get away safely.
