The house has one, Trump has one, and now the Senate has one. I can't for the life of me figure out what they are trying to do. Everything I see looks like they are trying to reduce taxes by adding to the debt we already have, makes no sense to me except it is a desperate attempt at repackaging the debt as something else. Putting more lipstick on the same old pig. ( I apologize to pigdom). Haven't really tried to decipher it because like the ACA, it will end up totally different from the showroom model. Maybe they need a feelgood bill to attach more pork funding to, like a framework for more bullshit spending. I'm getting the hang of this sausage making thing.

Trump has no bill, he has a wishlist. No details from him, he's rather stupid (or evil). THIS TIME, shifting more tax burden from the wealthy to everyone else will make everything better.
For certain definitions of "better"

I agree - they're all trying to make the pig look better, so we focus on that, rather than how rich the rich will get if this passes. The big one for me is eliminating the estate tax - you only pay it if pops left you more than 5.5 mil. Don't know about all of you, but I'm totes relieved that my kids won't have to pay it. Meanwhile if I have to put Mr. Minx in the home, I'll lose the ability to deduct part of his medical expenses, so I'm researching what brand of cat food tastes best for the price.

Wasn't that why Trump got elected? So he could 'drain the swamp' and bring efficiency and fairness back to our land?

I can't decide if he over reached, because no one can stop the machine here now, or he just spoke a lot of crap to be elected, thinking he would have more power that he was allowed. I still think there's a good chance he was selected for some controlled opposition, as people are really getting tired of "insiders", without really being able to identify who are insiders and who are not. He certainly backed right into the harness when he was elected, business as usual. One thing that Obama was doing right was to distance our entanglement with Israel, and that is now past history. If you didn't get your daily dose of hate from the media, it would actually be really hard to tell who is in the white house by current events. If he's trying to address any corruption, he certainly picked the strangest people to help him.

You presume honesty from a "reality" tv show host. Adorable.

I don't remember presuming anything. I said I can't figure out his motives. Why are you such an ass? I mean no disrespect.

Your comment above seems to assume only pure and good intentions from a demonstrably awful human being. That's adorable in a rose colored glasses sort of way. As if a guy who has only ever been accountable to himself for 7 decades has The Greater Good in mind. That's sweet.
My apologies if sweet and adorable are now offensive.

I have to agree here Bob - I didn't think Larry was presuming anything either. He was speculating as to what Trump's motives for running may have been. And yes, I do wonder - did he really go into this thinking he could be the Great White Savior? Did he do it for what he perceived as power? Did he only do it for the money? Did he just want to screw over as many people as he could? We will never know unfortunately.
I do see where the Senate is trying to make their bill "all about the little folks" by adding the medical deduction back in. I guess they're all finding out what we already knew - taxes are hard! I do have to say that it does feel weird right now - I keep on waiting for rants about the fair tax to start.

He ran to expand his brand.
Most of us knew that.

True, but his brand seems to be crashing from this. I know he's a moron, but don't you think *someone* would have pointed out this consequence before he ran? I think he really ran because he has an ego as big as all outdoors, and wanted all the pomp and circumstance. He thought someone else would do the actual work, just like in all of his other enterprises.

His ego and his brand are symbiotic.

Well, I don’t know why the image won’t show up. I thought it was a funny one. Orangey in a selfie with Duterte ‘s aide.
