link Common denominator with all these bills is turn on the money pump to the DOD, and lots of pork for everyone, and to hell with spending cap. The only problem is that no one is sucking up these promissory t bills like they used to. Will we be standing near a chair when the music stops? I hope so.

You and me both. These stop gap measures are becoming too common, and people outside of the government don't realize how dangerous this will be for them if congress can't get it's shit together. It's not about Federal Employees and whether they get paid - it's about whether our government can function at all, and if you're going to be the one left high and dry when it finally doesn't.

Sure, that's what they want you to think.
Plus, both sides are the same, so inevitable, nothing can be done.

So, what should we be thinking? Other than cleaning house and voting them all out that is.

Lessee... after BHO runs up the National Debt to 20 trillion dollars, from the 10 trillion it was when he got in office, without a peep from the left, NOW y'all are suddenly all concerned about the deficit? Eh? How's that work?
I'm not happy about it, but we've lost 4 or 5 military airplanes in 1 week. The news bunch said that the US Navy had to basically gut the entire rest of the fleet to place 3 working aircraft carriers off the coasts of N. Korea because something like 2/3rds of the Navy's aircraft won't fly at all due to lack of spare parts. This is BHO's fault, of course, for screwing the military for 8 years. We have to either fund the military or abolish it, as this just gets soldiers and sailors and airmen and marines killed when their weapons fail them.
I'm willing to give the tax cuts time to work, and believe that the increased revenue (tax cuts have historically resulted in increased revenue to the gov't from the additional prosparity, making for more income to the people to be taxed) will soon take care of this problem, although those researching the FairTax are finding that income tax evasion is set to exceed 9 trillion dollars over the next 10 years, so there's that part of the problem. Income taxes are blindingly easy to avoid, just lie on your tax forms, or better yet, don't file at all. Sure its illegal, but people seem to be doing it more and more.

I think most people have the continuing, planned deficit on their mind, but also accept it as inevitable. The prevailing neocon thought stream is our military needs constant stroking to continue our "mission", and that mission is to influence, interfere, or occupy every nation on earth. If you don't fully support the pentagon's endless wars, you are suspect. We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Just one little line item in our hemorrhaging money. This exactly how the soviet union fell, they overextended their selves trying to do the same thing, and it won't end well with us either.

Yeah, we need to get revenues up, or simply abolish a lotta stuff, in order to balance the budget. Abolish the military, and rely totally on the militia? The bad actors of the world would act and our international trade would dwindle to zero as they blockade and otherwise conduct war against our country without setting foot on our soil. We'd starve. We either have to dominate the world with our military or succumb, as the rest of the world won't leave us alone if we just try to "coexist." And of course the terrorists would be taking down 1 building a week, like 9/11.
With a 1 trillion deficit, abolishing the military STILL wouldn't balance the budget, since its only around $650 billion.
I don't know how to fix it, at least not as long as we keep trying to steal our way to raising revenue with income taxes. The more one raises income taxes, the more it suppresses the sources of income, which are our businesses. Raise income taxes and manufacturers go overseas to avoid them, the jobs disappear, the workers sit home on unemployment costing the gov't more money, or take some shit-pay job at 1/3rd the wage they used to have, and end up not paying individual income taxes at all, being too "poor" to tax. We've got far too many people in these low-paying jobs now since the great exodus of manufacturing that's been occurring since the 70's, and now we're screwed. I think we could get un-screwed by passing the FairTax, but otherwise I don't see a way back to prosperity co-existing with a balanced budget. The math-challenged on the left seem to think we could take all the money from the rich and finance the country that way, without realizing that the rich just don't HAVE that much money.
I have my favorite way to attack it, believe it would work, but other than that, I don't think we're going to get a balanced budget ever again, and at some point the world won't buy our debt, and we'll simply plunge into 3rd-world status. I'm 70 so probably don't have very long, and don't have any kids to worry about, so y'all that are young and/or have kids can worry about it. I think we have a chance to fix it with the FairTax. I can't think of another way to fix it because income taxes are self-limiting.

What militia?
Your best bet is to stay indoors and cower with your guns and ammo. Just hunker down in your safe space until you die, snowflake.
