It's probably gonna come out sooner or later anyway so I'm just going to say it....
I shot Renthal's bucket. Two times. Maybe three times. It was a bit of a blur given the sweat pouring off of me and the fear of snakes in the periwinkle.
That was tough to admit but also quite liberating.

Details man, details! What did you use, and how far did it go? Did the two of you cross the streams?

Exercise those rights. When guns are removed, only buckets will have guns. Oh, yeah, was there a body cam?

Guns will not be removed. That's not a prediction, it's a promise. Funny thing is I don't ever recall thinking about it as exercising a right any more than throwing darts as exercising a right. Still don't. Just plinking. The bucket will recover, though it will not be holding water anytime soon.

Take it up with the rock throwers and spear chuckers. They started it.

Just plinking. Sure it was. Next the two of you will form a militia, and that never ends well.

I think the real lesson here is that guns are toys.

Hey, if I promise not to point the gun at either one of you, can I tag along sometime? I've never actually fired a gun, and I think I probably should at least know how the whole thing works at some point in my life. I definitely won't be able to play plinko with that bucket though, as I can't see worth shit

Oh, and as for bears, aren't you supposed to carry bear spray and mace the bastards if they get close?
I don't want to experience that first-hand, but I do wonder how it actually works, since you have to be pretty damn close to a human to mace them. How damn close do you have to be to the bear, and do you really want to piss that bear off big time?

I don't think his property is all that conducive to live fire exercises as much as popping off a few rounds for FUN. But if you want to do it sometime, we can set something up. Just need to find a good place. If you don't mind trying with a handgun first, we could go to The Range on Rt 1 in Stafford. It costs a little bit once you rent the hearing and eye protection, which is required there, and a little more if you rent their guns and buy their ammo, but I have a 9mm you could use which is as good as anything they rent. If you want to do rifles (I have a 22 easy for a beginner), or both, there's a place on Rt 17 in Caroline where we can go fo free, but last time I was there it was overgrown and tick infestered. That was also in August a couple years ago. Not sure what it looks like now but could easily go scout it out. I can also ask Renthal about a neighbor of his, who has a yuge piece of property and they shoot there all the time, we'd just have to get his blessing. You in, Bob?
As for bears, that was just one example. The woods are full of things that will attack you, and some can and will kill you. Like most people with the same intent, they won't be deterred much by snark. Mace might work just fine and I personally would rather mace a mountain lion than shoot it, I would rather shoot a bear with a camera than a 30-06 and certainly hope to never have to take a person's life, but it's better to be prepared than unprepared. Kind of like being President.

Dude, I so totally and completely suck at skeet. It's actually embarrassing. But I sold my shotguns so couldn't even do it if I wanted to try again.

Well, at least if you're ever attacked by a clay saucer, you'll know what to expect.

What if I were able to procure an AR15 for the occasion? Then you'll at least have the experience to use with your narrative.
