True Believers will ba orgasmic over the 4.1% growth.
1. That would only be 5th highest qtr if it were Obama's. 2. Driven by export rush prior to tariffman spooging on trade. next few quarters should be interesting.
PS It would be nice if we ever had a measure that tells us if anything benefits We The People instead of (or even also) them the bidnesses and wealthy investor class.

You know, even if I started farting 50 dollar bills and grew all my hair back, I'd trade it in a heartbeat so our kids would be able to take pride in this country. That is if there's a country left to take pride in. Not that I presume how mine, let alone anyone else's feel about it, but as the bill comes due and the cows come home to roost, things will change drastically and it won't be pretty.

Sorry rally, one thread per topic will do. If you want to set the narrative, you'll have to be quicker on the trigger. Bet you've never been told that before.

I agree John - I want people to be able to take pride in our country, and have some degree of confidence that our government is working for the good of ALL people, not just the rich. I'd also like people to be able to take pride in their work and know that their company wasn't going to tank while the CEO left with a golden parachute.
I'd also like a unicorn too while I'm at it.

When I coached I used to have a saying, "I'd rather lose with a bunch of winners than win with a bunch of losers". We had a team that went 1-14-1 one season. I can only think of one kid that didn't come out of that having learned something positive, and that was because his father was one of "those".... Every other kid came back the following season. To be honest, I don't remember the record but a few years later most of those kids played for high school teams.
That was about 12 years ago and many of the kids and parents made lifelong friendships from it.

Friend's son (the one playing AAA ball right now) had a lot of 'loser' teams growing up. I really think it not only helped him develop his game, but more importantly, his attitude. He's never forgotten what it feels like to be part of the losing side, and he's also never forgotten what it feels like to have a 'teammate' steal all of your glory.
He's extremely gracious in defeat, and more than willing to accept criticism for his play, but he will never bad-mouth a teammate or coach in public. (He did say that one of the hardest things to learn was how to do an interview. So many people really want you to throw someone under the bus, and would get annoyed when he would only be willing to discuss his personal play during that loss).
When the team wins, he always thinks of the other players and people behind the scenes first, and wants to make sure they get credit.
But yeah, Zack and his mom both say that they have friends from T-ball days. The attitude of the people in charge makes such a big difference.

Sorry rally, one thread per topic will do. If you want to set the narrative, you'll have to be quicker on the trigger. Bet you've never been told that before. I was wondering whether I just typed that and forgot to commit it to the database or not. That explains it. Anyway, busy, busy, busy. Helping friend choose a new motorhome, attempting to get my new Icom IC-7100 in the car with the new HF antenna, plus attempting to schedule a tilt-over of the big tower so's I can replace the $389 144 / 440 mhz collinear with a $125-including-shipping-'cuz-Ham-Radio-Outlet was out of big one Nation-wide 144 / 440 collinear. Why replace? There's a story... found the top 2 1/2 feet of the antenna sticking in the ground. Looked out the window and it was sticking up, and thought it was just a big dandelion since I hadn't mowed the grass for so long because it had been raining for about a week. Got dressed, went outside, and found it was the top of the antenna. Was wondering how it had been cut off - at about 90 feet above the ground, it sure wasn't vandalism. I was thinking unlikely things like something falling off an airplane or a meteorite or maybe a bullet. Nobody shoots all that often around here and the one guy that does shoots fairly rapid-fire so he's not aiming well enough to hit something maybe 1/2" wide from prolly 1/4 mile away. Mystery. Finally got on the mower a couple days ago and about the same place I found the top of the antenna, I found a feather, gray, about 4" long. Bird. Probably a goose, considering gray, but could have maybe been an eagle or osprey or something. Hope the critter is OK - haven't seen any carcasses, but that had to hurt. Even the natural fliers screw up the flying thing, so we hardly wonder when someone like that Kennedy kid or John Denver or someone else screws up and offs themselves with an airplane. Flying is dangerous, even for the flight-endowed critters. But mystery solved, anyway. Getting the new radio into the car has been a process. Got the 144 / 440 portion working, have the channels I want all programmed and scanning, but the HF side I'm being real careful with. Why? First was the long wait to get the antenna I wanted - a Tarheel "Little Tarheel II" antenna which, again, HRO was out of nation-wide. This time the reason was that the guy at Tarheel had a heart attack and was behind in his orders. Hope he recovers ASAP and fully. He seems to have gotten at least one out to HRO, so I have it. Multiple considerations are where to put it and how not to destroy it by hitting something. The best place for it operationally is the center of the roof. OK, that's where it is, at least laterally, if a bit back from the center longitudinally. That's to get it away from the 144 / 440 magnetic mount antenna which is more up front. The HF is also on a magnetic mount consisting of 4 giant magnets. I can say with confidence that these magnets are not going to come lose and let the antenna fall off. It is a bear to get them off. I've been using vice-grips to get them off, but that is problematic as it risks the paint, as they don't mate with the components of the mag mount without also contacting the roof. I have to build something, probably out of PVC pipe, that will be a tool to lever the mag-mount off of there. Its really difficult. I consider it an anti-theft device. Eat your Wheaties to get it off. And since it's in the center of the roof, you can't even reach it unless you play pro basketball. I got a cute little folding step-stool from Amazon to at it. Anyway, the mag mount is "on there", and the antenna is very vertical. Problem with that is that it 1st 16" of it are plastic and therefore weak. If it hits something, it will shatter. Shouldn't be a problem going down the road, but I might forget and drive it in the garage. Thought for a long time to remember that I have one of those old CB radio antenna springs, like the sheriffs and police all used to use on their outrageously long whip antennas, from an old antenna setup I first installed in about 1982. Still there, on the Hustler mast, so removed it and put it under the Little Tarheel II. Problem solved, the antenna will tilt back when it is pushed from the front. As long as I don't hit anything at speed, it should be good. Possible complication is that wind might cause it to be bent back excessively at higher speeds like 70 - 75 mph. Will take it out on the interstate, and mount a webcam, and watch it to see if it is bending back too far. If so, I'll rig some "guy wires" out of probably 10 lb fishing line to keep it upright, but break away if it actually hits something solid. That's the kinda stuff, other than the gym and the movies, that I've been up to, and not posting here. Saw Mission Impossible for the 2nd time tonight. This is probably the best MI that they've made so far. Some of them I hadn't been able to easily follow everything going on in the story, but this one is much clearer. Back to the motorhome thing, my only interest is that my friend, his wife, and I are probably going to go to Alaska via the AlCan highway next summer, if everything works out. We'll camp and save a fortune in motel payments, and since he wants the MH for other reasons, its a great way to travel not-so-expensively. Could take us 30 - 40 days to execute, since he hasn't seen a lotta stuff out west like Yellowstone and other stuff, and it'll take a long time to tour them. My thing is also avoiding TSA which ticks me off for their 4th-amendment violating ways, as well as the latest headline on Drudgereport saying that TSA is tracking ordinary citizens as if they are terrorists. So, you're being tracked if you fly. Maybe its a coincidence that you happen to fly to 3 particular cities in succession, and a bomb goes off in a public place at about the same time as you show up there each time. They'll check their overall tracking database and you're instantly in trouble, even tho you just went to take pictures and drink the local beer. We also have to plan it so the route back hits Fairbanks on Aug 21st, which is the earliest day of the year where the sky is dark enough to observe the northern lights, which he wants to see. I want to photograph 'em. We can probably leave toward the end of July and be on time there. Fun to plan this stuff. Anyway... it'll be fun to see if this GDP thing is sustainable and/or expandable. One of the themes I've seen lately is the rush to find workers has opened a lot of jobs to "no experience necessary" category. Hope things continue to improve.
