I finally got a shingles vaccine this evening. Or, the first one. I need to go back for a booster in “2 to 6 months”. Riiiight. Like it will be so available then?
And, allow me to bitch a bit about the pain in my right knee. Yep, the fucking arthritis seems to have returned, not only during weather changes but also during use. I’ve also had a couple instances of it giving out on me. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am. Six months after replacement. Oh, the joy.

I know. I shouldn’t complain. I’m just so tired of living in pain all the fucking time. In a couple weeks, I’ll be better.

If I was in pain all the time, you can rest assured that I'd be bitching like hell.

Normally, I deal with it. After all, it’s been nearly 40 years, so I have a lot of experience. But this year, I finally bit the bullet and had the surgeries that were supposed to provide some relief. I had no idea that the arthritis symptoms would remain. My rheumatologist wasn’t surprised when I mentioned it to him. My canes are back in strategically placed areas just in case I feel unsteady.
That’s it. No more complaints. I’ll work on my rosy outlook. It’s hard in these divided times, but I’m strong and can do it.

I must say, I’ve never been so sore from a vaccination as I have been from this shingles one. Lifting and reaching are both painful. I had both the flu and pneumonia vaccines on Halloween, and neither of them bothered me like this one. I expected some side effects , so I’m not complaining. I’ve heard of others having many more issues than just a sore arm, but none of them as bad as the shingles!

I hope it's worth it. I haven't had shingles but have heard only bad things.
Tetanus was a painful shot, too.

I went through 4 months of rabies shots and they weren’t nearly as bad. Yes, tetanus was painful.

I used to have to give myself shots for migraines, and then Mrs Peete for her cancer, then her MS. None of them are fun but there's a technique, even in intramuscular ones.

I remember as a kid, I got an injection in my bubble butt while having my tonsils out. I’m not sure what it was, but that cheek was sore for a week! It was a long time ago, as they put me under with ether. I had horrible nightmares while going under. I still remember them. I could hear the surgeon talking and he became the bad guy (with a wolf face) in my nightmares.
I gave Mom her insulin injections, mostly in the stomach. She made sure I knew how to very early on and it’s a good thing, since I ended up caring for her at the end.

I hope it's worth it. I haven't had shingles but have heard only bad things. Tetanus was a painful shot, too. I had to get a tetanus shot about 2.5 months ago due to some cat claws digging into my arm. Chose to get it in my hip/butt area. Only started to hurt about 2 days after I got it, but wasn't too bad. Barely felt the actual shot. Can't stand getting shots in my arm due to the Nurse Ratchet who used to give them to me as a child. My dad had shingles. Came out of nowhere and got him on the legs and arms. They definitely weren't pleasant. Know a couple of ex coworkers who have them too.

I have heard that Shingles are one of the worst, especially if you don't get to the doctor within the anti-viral window and have to just wait it out. I've also been told that the new vaccine is pretty painful as well, but I was told to go get it anyway, even though I got the first one.
Had a wickedly evil case of the Chicken Pox as a kid that I can still remember vividly - don't want to risk anything even remotely like that again.
