especially when you turn the state dept over openly to the security state with no oversight. We're going to have to make room for 3 or 4 more million "refugees", if Russia even lets it get that far. It looks like we're not taking anything off the table. That is except minding our own business.

LOLz. Yeah, billionaire grifters were just what the country needed, to get out of the greed driven policy game.

I just lol at all the time I spent in 2016 trying to get people (on both the left and right) to understand that Trump was not an "non-interventionist" and he and his base will happily go to war when it piques their own interest. Trump just didn't want to be saddled with things that Obama presumably left him.

Yeah, I didn't hold much hope for any resolution from him, but at least he did campaign on it. From BBC Before: Mr Trump has long called for the US to leave the Middle East. On the campaign trail, he said the region was a "total and complete mess" and wished the government had spent the trillions of dollars in the US instead.
His talk of an end to US military deployments overseas predates his presidential run. In 2013, he tweeted: "Our troops are being killed by the Afghanis we train and we waste billions there. Nonsense! Rebuild the USA." That same year, he said the US should "stay the hell out" of the Syrian war.
After: In September 2017, the Trump administration announced the deployment of 3,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. Mr Trump said his approach would be based on conditions on the ground. In Syria, the US had led a coalition against IS along with Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighters, with around 2,000 troops on the ground.
By December 2018, Mr Trump ordered the withdrawal of all US troops from Syria. Days later, US media reported the president planned to halve US forces in Afghanistan from 14,000 to 7,000.
The plans prompted warnings from senior Republicans and foreign powers that it could help the resurgence of IS. In Afghanistan, experts cautioned a US withdrawal would be a propaganda victory for the Taliban.
After Mr Trump's decision, Defence Secretary Jim Mattis and special envoy to the coalition against IS Brett McGurk both resigned.
Trump rewrites US Syria policy US 'to pull 7,000 troops' from Afghanistan
It is impossible to know what exactly going on. Whether the president says pull out and the pentagon says "no", or we are seeing the old good cop/bad cop is not clear to me. All I know is that the US and Russia both have abandoned the INF treaty, started firing missiles all over the place, and we seem to be dead set on starting a war.
I had seen what Clinton was capable of when she destroyed Libya without blinking an eye. Poor choices, that's what we have.
It's impossible to get a good read on any candidate's stance on these elective wars, because they label it as "national security" and if you question "national security" you obviously ain't a good Merikan. That's how bad this cancer has metastasized in our society. But, on the brighter side, you can feel good or bad on your choice of candidates.

I think that might apply to a whole bunch of them. The truth is much uglier than anything they would have you believe.

If Trump is on the ticket I don't care if the Democrat nominee is a stale pop tart, I'm voting for it.

Does anyone here find it comforting that Chief Cheeto keeps having secret meetings with the Roosky president and then lying about it? Funny how Trump opted to bail from the INF vs sanction Russia. Ha. Ha. What good are these nukes if we don't use them? Ha. Ha.

PS Let me mention now that we have special forces advisers on the ground in at least one state next door to Venezuela. This time, we'll finally get American sponsored military coups right. If not, we'll try again.

Vote for Bernie. Trust me, it'll feel good once you do it! =D I'm liking what Tulsi Gabbard is mouthing link about non intervention, and getting big money and pacs out of politics. Tall sounding, to be true, and every politician since Julius Caesar has promised a chicken in every pot, but what we get is a dick in every arse. Still, it is intriguing. She seems sincere, but that's what they do. Hard (impossible) to tell if she is a don Quixote or more controlled opposition. If she would be nominated, and I see little chance, she might feel obligated to at least poke the war profiteers and neocons (and neo dems) and corporate interests, as well as the corporate media. We could start a pool to see how many days would pass before she would get her mind right. It would at least be entertaining.

There will be plenty of variety among the challengers, no need to put all your eggs in one basket. Tulsi will be out shortly. She is fuck all in re Islam and Teh Gay. It's that flaky religious upbringing she had.
Besides, Schultz is the one - the US clearly needs more billionaire businessmen running it, they're all so in touch with we the dalit populace, and simply immune to greed.
