This looks to be a really awful story. Too bad nobody teaches cops about de-escalating conflicts.

I wish I knew what happened, but I don't. You can't judge anything by the interviews from his friends, if they weren't there. Just emotional crap. There were witnesses though, and IIRC there was costco sur tapes, so perhaps more will be known. One cop, his was the only gun discharged and he hit 3 people, but perhaps that doesn't tell the story. I don't know what has to be investigated unless it's blood work on all of them, physical and forensic evidence, witness testimony etc. I do think that cops are on heightened alert these days. If this drags out for 3 years I would have to call shenanigans. I think your life can change in 3 seconds and you would be served well to remember that.

Cops story has already evolved to include him being knocked unconscious to the floor. Kind of minor detail you totally omit because irrelevant.

So yeah, let's hear the whole story, but count me skeptical of the initial po-po claims.
PS Good thing he brought a gun, though, otherwise everyone might've gone home alive and uninjured.

Some departments require them to carry gun and badge off duty. Even if that's not the case, his right to do so is protected by law, whereas being assaulting someone without (usually even with) cause is not.
What fucking difference does having the whole story make in the court of public opinion? Most of our minds were made up as soon as we saw the headline.

John, John, John. The Court of Public Opinion is the only one that matters! How could you not know that?
BTW, I don't have any issue with the dude carrying a gun. I just want to make sure that there is actually a full investigation of what happened, and if he did fire it carelessly or without cause that there are consequences.

He's now saying he was knocked out, came to, and started shooting. I would suggest that being knocked out requires some recovery time before one can objectively assess if someone needs to be dead.
Sadly there were not enough guns on hand to make Costco a polite place.

We need to hear all 3 sides of the story.

Remember that in Merika you are considered not guilty until someone accuses you of something or tweets that you might have done something.

Or if you are dead. Dead means guilty, especially dead by cop.
