But got the smallest one they had at smallmart. About 4 lbs, boneless, Smithfield... It came out of the package a mess, so had to give it a start in a foil pan instead of straight on the rack. Did a very simple rub, heavy on the brown sugar and light on everything else. Got some golden Carolina sauce for this go round, not Cattleman's (which is A#1 in my book) but some other brand which was all I could find at the time.
Not even bothering with homemade sides today. Bushes baked beans and Reysers Mac and cheese ding. Too hot to fool with fussing over everything again this weekend.

Great flavor but the cut was garbage. Half was dried out the other half didn't break down, even though it was close to 200 when I took it out. Oh well, can't win m all.

Since it's pretty warm, you might think about making some kabobs. Cit into bite size and marinate the hell out of whatever, and grill them with some onions, peppers, squash, cherry tomatoes, pineapple, etc. All The vegs are there, not long time on the grill, and it tastes even better the next day. I have even parboiled those little potatoes and grilled them, they're good too. Just don't mix the meat and vegetables, as they all cook at different rates. If you lime portobellos this is the time for them. I think I might put on a shoulder this weekend and cook it in a dutch oven outside, like carnitas. Too hot to cook inside.

PS, grilled sirloin tips marinated in Mr Yoshida is heaven on Earth. Other than onions, Grilled veggies don't thrill me.

The woman is gone tomorrow, and I have some venison backstrap a friend gave me, and will probably grill that tomorrow. I like grilled onions and peppers. And mushrooms.
