Yes overall much better.
Speaking of Daughter.. she had to go to the ER last night. She's had a migraine for over 2 weeks and the triptans aren't working any more. They couldn't get it under control in the ER and admitted her. I'm not even unpacked and it's going to be back to a hospital today. This is why Ativan.

Oh man, just what you (and she) needs. I hope they can do something to help her - migraines are miserable pieces of shit.

Yeah out of the fire and into the heat FML. No matter, I'm more concerned for her than anything obviously. I'll relax when I'm dead. But the way things go, it's hard to be 100% certain about even that.
The ER bullshit migraine protocol failed even though my doctor friend that works there called and told the one seeing her about her hx. They just plain don't give opioids in the ER now for pain I guess... So they admitted her. They tried morphine last night and she slept much better but it came back this morning (just like I knew it would) They finally gave her Dilaudid around an hour ago. Her fiance has been there with the whole time. Still waiting to hear if that busted it. I'm pretty sure it will, even though it may take up to 2mg inj to get it gone for good.
I was going to head over but she wants to have as little or few things going on as possible so just sitting here on standby.

Other than giving her opioids, is there anything else they can do? Seems like giving her Dilaudid is working, but you can't take that shit everyday and still function normally.

The Dilaudid didn't work. They only gave her .4mg two times. It may even have been .2 twice totalling .4. either way they SHOULD have given her at least 1mg to start and another one if it didn't work in an hour or so.
I got there yesterday just as the neurologist had walked in. I had to clam up because I was getting ready to go postal on her after saying she was withdrawing all the opoiods, because I said "you hardly gave her any to start with" under my breath and figured in my state of mind.....
So they did an MRI last night and are trying to rule everything out they can. Haven't heard anything yet this morning. Her fyawnsay has been there the whole time and keeping me posted.

I feel awful for her. I had migraines as a teen, but am thrilled that they’ve abated quite a bit for me. I hope they discover something that gives her relief for the present and future.

Less than an hour after she got home this afternoon we raced her back to the ER. She said it was like she had lockjaw, no control over her jaw, her speech was almost unintelligible, and I thought her face looked unusual on the left side. When she was in the ER she was having tremors. I mean what the actual FUCK right? The time she walked in to time the doctor came to see her was less than 10 minutes. That TOTALLY freaked me out!! Turns out it was just a side effect of some of the meds she had been getting over the last couple of days. This is what it's called- Tardive dyskinesia g.co/kgs/p2U54P Anyway she just got home again and other than looking like she fell off the turnip truck, got rolled over by the onion truck, and slept on the chicken truck all the way from Timbuktu... She seems fine. Really hoping the worst of it has passed at this point. She truly doesn't deserve to suffer like that and have her life turned upside down like it has been the past 2 weeks. And not to be selfish but I'd surely appreciate a few drama free couple days or more. Still haven't decompressed from the trip and now this. That's why Ativan.

Oh man. I have a mild case of TD from the anti-psychotic I took for Bipolar (Abilify), and even at that level, it was horrible. Your poor daughter. Is there any way she could go to someplace like VCU?

Not sure what her plan is. In my VAST experience with migraines, there's really only 2 things: wait them out with the meds you have, or break the cycle with Dilaudid, phenergan, torodol in shock and awe doses. She is still having them but looks much better today. I think she's going to try to get an appointment with the neurologists that saw her in the hospital as they may be able to get her in quicker than her 9/26 appt at the other place.
And as I expected, we got a call from Cleveland this morning. Not exactly for the reason I expected. The old man may or may not have had a stroke last night. Denver went back to Denver yesterday and Alexandria is with them by herself. I think they agreed not to have him taken to the hospital since he's "conscious" (very loosely termed). I think we're going back either next week or the week after but told them ONLY if he's in a facility or there's a professional at the house to care for him. Or has reached the end of the line, which would be merciful at this point.

Whoa! He may or may not have had a stroke? Have they not taken him to a doctor to find out?
This whole situation gives the term shit-show a good name. Do you have to go back out there next week? And if so, will someone other than you be out there? I really don't like this John - those two women already don't like you, and I worry that if things go further south, they'll be all about looking for someone else to blame. Please make sure to cover your ass both ways till Sunday before you go near that situation again.
And I hope your daughter can get to the neurologist sooner than the end of September.

Like I said, I knew my path to hell was paved with good intentions but this stroke or not stroke happened on their watch.
Why take him to the doctor? They have DNRs posted in every room of the house. As long as he's not unconscious and even if he is, what would be gained by taking him in at this point? It's one of the only things I can agree with them about in 10 years.

I just don't want them saying you didn't get him proper medical care or something like that.

Okay - just making sure. How is Mrs. Pete handling all of this? It has to be way stressful on her too

She's handling it pretty good under the circumstances. I think the fact that she has her own major issues to deal with has kept her from throwing a lot of her emotional energy into what's going on up there. She's got a huge head start on everyone else when it comes to understanding limitations, setbacks, dependency, etc.

3 weeks, 5 doctors and a dozen meds later, Daughter seems to be on the mend. No migraines this weekend but feels out of it still, probably due to being full of chemicals. She's going to try to go back to work tomorrow. Good vibes and positive energy always appreciated.
And we're heading back to oh10 next Sunday. Woo. Fucking. Hoo.

I jinxed it. She had one last night apparently. Did get up and go to work this morning. Her boss has been the most amazing person during all of this. She took it on herself and her spouse was somehow able to get my daughter an appointment with a neurologist who specializes in migraines etc this past Friday in Alexandria. Everyone around here was 2 to 3+ months out. That doctor was off and came in just to see her on Friday.
But I think the fact that she went in today, and easing back into her normal routine is part of the overall therapy.
As for us going back to Ohio, it is what it is. I totally expected it. At least this time we'll have our expenses covered, including better accommodations for my wife, as one of the stipulations for going back was to get a bed to set up for her on the main level. She slept in a recliner last time. An old barely functioning recliner. Looks like a two week stay at minimum. So be prepared for a lot of bad mood posting from me!

You're a better man than I. If my spouse had a disability and was forced to sleep on a recliner because the remaining cheap-ass sisters didn't want to spring for a cheap twin-sized bed, I'd tell them to eff off if they wanted us back! Ugh.

Well, the last time was an emergency type deal with no time to plan anything. I COULD HAVE brought one of the beds from one of the upstairs rooms downstairs and set it up in their "library/den/tv" room... but one, my back. Getting it down stairs probably not too bad but back up is another animal altogether, And it was not a good time to throw it out any worse than it already is, given that I was having to deal with 3 immobile people. And two, the beds are 100 years old and at the end of the day she was probably better off in that recliner comfort-wise even as bad as it was. So even though they (the money sister) wasn't on board with us buying a new bed this time, she's going to be, because I told mrs peete its not negotiable.
