Look, they have microwaves that are Alexa enabled ("Alexa cook my frozen dinner!"), so what makes any of us think that the average person even cares who's watching them anymore?
Then of course everyone will be shocked to find out that those cool little devices were used to monitor their visitors and keep tabs on what they did, who they talked to and what TV they watched.

It's way too late to whine about all that surveillance now. Uniparty, man. Overlords, the digital panopticon, smartphones, browser histories, your data isn't yours. Way WAY too late.
But you go ahead and vent, maybe relax with a beer - you're clearly overwrought by it all.

Ever see that movie "Enemy Of The State"? The only thing fictional was the script.
One of the biggest problems for big bro and the orwells was having the ability to manage hundreds of millions of people with relatively few sets of eyes and ears. AI solves that problem. And when it's mainstreamed, we will all welcome it into our homes, our vehicles, our businesses, and never give it a second thought. Because we've been slowly but steadily conditioned for it for decades.

We are slowly but surely being dumbed down to where people don't know right from wrong, or good from bad. If the electrical grid was to go down for 3 months, I doubt that the general population could survive. Maybe we do need to be herded, and the process is so slow and well delivered I doubt we'd even be aware of it.

Damn! How did our education system ever get underfunded?
ETA: That dumbing down stuff is a long term GOP project that started ages ago. Nothing to be done about it now, Overlords again, but you do seem genuinely verklempt. Maybe take a nap and worry less.

He's got you on blessed silence so trolling him is a fail.
PS I think the dumbing down project is bipartisan. I can give you just as many examples of it from the other side of the road.

I know. I'm pretty sure that snowflake told me how blocking tells more about the blocker than the blockee.
He shouldn't, how will he know if I call a name?

HE CALLED ME "ASSHOLE".
He's also a more subtle harasser than most.

Anyway, private industry tracks us all and compiles psych profiles of us all. Since those are private data, no warrant is required for government to obtain. Now I don't know if that's happened, but anyone worrying about government invasion of privacy is obviously a few steps behind. I mean, you'd have to believe in the Pollyanna world of innocent companies and the nefarious government (We The People) never colluding, a world with no military-industrial complex, a world where Poindexter's TIA was never even envisioned. A cartoon land.

I either don't agree with "we shouldn't worry about it" or miss your point here.
It goes contrary to your stand on guns when you mock someone for saying nothing can be done and in the next breath say thats the case with our data etc.
Also just to point out that data is just part of it. We've got Google and Amazon, for example, admitting to listening in on us. Well, why? To sell more advertising? To sell more area rugs? It can't JUST be for marketing and if it is, it most definitely is a welcome mat on our front porch to all comers, private and government. I believe the latter is already in the house and when this is fully realized, we will have something resembling the dystopian society Larry has cooking under his foil sombrero. So we should worry about it and we should reject these items that make us less secure in our personal, private lives wrt the information and tracking from the devices that we have now and those to come.

Well, I surely mock anyone who believes there are Overlords that can control everything except elections and loopy websites.
I see our loss of privacy as a big issue, but I think Larry's gripes trend to focus on government actions, and we already KNOW private industry is way down the road from that. That's a big blind spot, because both know too much about as individuals, IMO. I'd like to see a restoration of privacy, and I know that won't come from the good graces of either industry or government, that we need to push for it.
And it may be too late for that and for our gun problems.
