Anyone ever have it? I've had a few episodes over the last week, but I've been in bed for all but one - this morning I bent over to pet the dog and fell on top of him And I still feel slightly crappy, even though the dizziness passed. Been having headaches too. Perhaps it's a good thing that I have a routine check up this Friday, eh?

Yes and me Mrs gets it too. Most of the time it's an ear thing with some particles gone wild. There are yootuub videos of a technique you can do at home that actually works. One is by The Doctors TV show.
Also meclazine helps.

Hahaha! I prefer crystal meth - maybe that's where the vertigo is coming from.
It's definitely not a pleasant sensation.

Yes! I would get physically ill from it. I didn’t have to bend over - just a simple, slight turn or cock of the head would do it. I’d have to lie down and stay perfectly still for hours until it passed. I remember having to drive home from work, dry-heaving all the way, when it hit me in the office one morning. And I missed an entire Animal Rescue Symposium because of it - sat down at a table for the opening remarks and next thing I knew, I was kneeling at the toilet, heaving. The organizers were kind enough to locate a cot in a closet for me. It’s awful. My doc gave my HCT, which did nothing. I believe I figured out what caused mine. When I first moved in with Mom, I was staying in the basement. The shower in that bathroom was very tiny, with little room to move around, much less bend over. At the time, I was shaving my legs daily (this was before getting my legs in between two fighting dogs). This act required extreme maneuvers in that tiny shower, resulting in water in my ears. I’m sure some of it trickled into my inner ear, causing the vertigo. It took awhile, but I suppose it eventually dried up on its own. It was many months of suffering, though. There’s no warning before it hits — just BLAM!

I think that's the worst part. You're doing something simple and innocuous and BOOM! You're on the floor and the entire room is moving. Happened again this morning, and right now, my head and ears feel congested. And I didn't bend over to pet Dresi - he was on the couch so I just pet him, but must have moved my head weird or something

Damn you, minx! I haven’t had vertigo in nearly 20 years. Monday, my balance became wonky and my head started spinning. I feel like I’m drunk and have resorted to using my walker or cane when the spells get really bad. It’s more light-headedness than vertigo; kind of like a head rush. Getting up to pee at night has become a real challenge!
I mentioned it to my rheumatologist, since I saw him today. He said it may be withdrawal fro gabapentin, which is now a “controlled drug”. I was finally able to get the refill today, but I’ve been without it for over 2 weeks so I’m not sure that’s what is causing this.
If it persists, I suppose I may have to see my internist.

I am sorry. And are you not getting refills from the doctor in a timely manner, or are you not going out to the pharmacy to pick the stuff up? I know it's considered addictive (hence the 'control'), but since you've been on it for years, shouldn't you be able to get it without much of an issue? If you need someone to pick it up for you in the future, let me know and I'll go by the pharmacy for you. If you behave, I might take a naughty boy along with me too

It was a snafu. Even though I had available refills, the pharmacy couldn’t without new authorization from prescriber because of its change in status. It was one of my many meds that automagically refills so I didn’t realize the issue until I ran out. I admit that my reclusiveness did delay my trip to the pharmacy to deal with it. Then the holiday happened so there was a bit of a lag in the doctor’s response. I looked up the withdrawal symptoms and did experience a few at the beginning (especially the insomnia, but insomnia isn’t unusual for me), but the dizziness is a really a delayed reaction if that is what is causing it.

Vertigo is bad, but you can't get up after an attack of zydeco.
