Backstory: the Restasis eye drops that I use twice daily for dry eyes burns when applied and I sometimes rub my eyes too aggressively to alleviate the burning.
Friday i visited my optometrist for a contact lens check. I was given a new prescription and told that corneas look healthy despite a bit of dryness (by this point I had been awake for 36+ hours). On the way out, he gave me a sample of a different lens cleaner. This one contains hydrogen peroxide, negating the need for rubbing each lens before storing (yes!). The downside is that the lens cannot be used for at least 6 hours to allow the peroxide to dissipate. Even though I wait at least 8 hours before using them, I have experienced some discomfort when inserting the lenses at the start of the day since I’ve been using this new stuff, but it’s worth it because they are much cleaner and are more comfortable in the long run.
So, today, after my eye-rubbing ritual, I went to put my lenses in. Right eye pops in and POW! Intense, burning, fiery, horrible pain. I already had this weird pain in the back of my head (I’ve had these weird headaches off and on recently-they move around but the type is the same, like someone has stabbed a hot poker in my head and keeps twisting it.). It took a minute or so for me to get the eye open so I could take out the lens. I washed the eye out with saline and the used some drops. Lenses are back int the peroxide solution, until I’m brave enough to try it again. Yowza! My eye is still tearing.
And im wearing my backup glasses, because I left my newest ones at the opticians so they can use the frames for my new lenses. What fun we blind folks have.
