Physical therapy failed. I went in at a 66, went out at a 62. That was over about 12 weeks with the extended Ohio trips in between.
Now I'm scheduled to see the MWH spinal people to see about the epidural steroid shot. The surgeon I saw 2 years ago said that was about a 50-50 proposition. At this point I'll try whatever they've got. Surgery being the last option but I was told that was only a 30% success rate.

Oh crap. Does the steroid shot take effect immediately, or are you going to have to wait to see results?

My grandmother had back surgery and still had issues until she died. I haven’t heard anything that makes me believe it’s gotten much better. Mom had a pinched nerve and tried dozens of measures for pain relief but none of them worked. The pain specialist was useless in her case. Good luck.
So far, this has been an okay week for my back. I’ve finally recovered from wrestling those trees into the house a couple weeks ago. I had over a week of agonizing spasms from that ordeal.

Oh crap. Does the steroid shot take effect immediately, or are you going to have to wait to see results? As I understand it, it varies. Some people get almost immediate relief or within a day or two. Others may have to wait a week or two. And some may get little to no relief while others feel like a million bucks. And duration of effectiveness is just as variable. It's not a risk-free procedure either but I assume they'll give me the full risk/reward summary beforehand. I had to pick her up twice and move her a couple of times the other day. Not that I was doing great but any means up to that point but I was in agony that night and all day yesterday.

I can't imagine having to lift an adult when your own back is bad. I know you do what you have to do, but that is above and beyond to me. Friend who is disabled watches her 2yo granddaughter. She said she's not sure how much longer she can do it without assistance, as she's starting to have difficulty picking her up, and she can't get down on the ground due to her disability

Radio something ablation of the nerves or the facet joints or both. The woman was a human version of a can of monster energy mixed with red bull and meth.

The test injections they did as a prerequisite to the nerve ablation failed also. Don't know if I mentioned that. When I went for follow up last Friday she said insurance companies were no longer covering the steroid shots, or at least not all of them. She's trying to get them to approve them for me, I think it's the "transforaminal steroid injections" or some other type that's image guided and is, you guessed it, the very last thing that can be done before the word that rhymes with urgery.
