I’ve got this bad feeling that the Berniecrats are poised to reelect the DonCon by proxy. I was just informed by the “woke” generation that being “centrist” is equivalent to a conservative hiding behind a democrat or as it was called last year, a DINO. No, you may not have differing opinions with them and doing so will result in being ridiculed and dismissed as any republican/conservative opponent. The “there’s room for everybody* and everything*” crowd seems a little self righteous for their own good to me, and it’s bothersome to the point where trying to engage them is not unlike trying to engage the other end of the spectrum, aka the Deplorables. So, what if Bernie isn’t nominated? I can tell you what. Trump gets re-elected because they won’t support notBernie and either sit it out or write him in. And if he is nominated? Trump probably still gets re-elected because I don’t see any moderate (GASP! RINOS!) republican voters switching over to vote for him like they did Obama. That uber progressive, democratic socialist stuff just isn’t going to fly with that color tie. And here’s another big problem; I’ve been hearing democrats, including elected ones and ones seeking to be elected, using the “socialist-socialism” dog whistle through a megaphone lately. Yes, I know this is half the Bernie Bores point and it doesn’t get past me no matter how much they want to believe it does anyone who is a DINO-Boomer-Centrist. This obviously won’t work on intelligent people educated about what socialism really is and the differences between actual socialism and Bernieism, but there are more than plenty of democrats who aren’t interested in “studying up” on the finer points of governments’ socioeconomic structures and what would they do on election day if Bernie was the D on the ballot? PS, I doubt half of his cult understand the material realities of socialism et al and how they do or do not apply to working models as opposed to euphoric romanticized idealistic fuzzy feelings they get from an idealist concept salesman.
I don’t mean to sow any seeds of doubt and I still plan to check Sanders next Tuesday, but it’s with very cautious optimism that his cult won’t ruin it for us again, one way or the other.
