we negotiated with the terrorists for our withdrawal from Afghanistan? Such that we'll still have more troops there than when Obama retired?

Read this - it's a long read, but worth it.
Basically we reached our 'goal' in Afghanistan pretty early (crushing most of the Taliban and Al-Queda). That was the time to negotiate peace and get the hell out of Dodge. But since there was never a clear 'mission' or end-game in place, we decided we needed to re-build the country, which of course meant that the Afghani people didn't get to say what they wanted.
So now we have this farce of a peace deal, where everyone seemingly 'gets' something We get to send our troops home The Taliban get to take control of the country The Afghani people get screwed once again
I'd laugh, but all I can think of is the amount of hatred the Afghans and Iraqis have for most Americans now. And I think of the people who put their lives at risk to help our soldiers and contractors (like Rally), and are now stranded since we won't grant them asylum. I think of the families of the dead, both our soldiers and the civilians. And I wonder what kind of room Satan has ready in the depths of hell for the entire Bush administration.

Those forces are still at work. It's a feature, not a bug.
John Bolton
@ambjohnbolton
Signing this agreement with Taliban is an unacceptable risk to America's civilian population. This is an Obama-style deal. Legitimizing Taliban sends the wrong signal to ISIS and al Qaeda terrorists, and to America's enemies generally.

I can't say I disagree with Bolton, but the ship to fix this quagmire sailed long, long ago.
And much like Iraq, we're leaving Afghanistan in worse shape than we found it.

The point I was making was that he was part of the group that pushed to get us in that goddamn shitshow to start with, so his advice is worth about the same as his book.

100%
I'd like to send all of these shit stains to an outpost in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Syria. Just for a month. They can have their own separate tent (so the real soldiers don't have to put up with them), and be assigned to menial work in the camp - cleaning up stuff, cooking, cleaning dishes or unpacking supplies - they wouldn't have to do something super dangerous like go out on patrol or anything.
And make sure the soldiers treat them like any newbie - no cleaning up language around them, no going soft or playing down their experiences.
Let's see how these assholes feel about things after that. (Of course, they'll probably say that they 'totally understand' our brave men and women in uniform and will brag about how they too could do it)
