According to their reports, 475 down in one day. My question: why? They have been pretty much on national lockdown for at least a week right? How did it spread so fast there and a couple of other places but seems relatively slow here by comparison, in the land of "me", where people gonna america no matter what?

We still aren’t able to test all that need/should be tested. Anyone dying that hasn’t been tested won’t be counted. I’m also skeptical of any data that is released by this administration.

A FB friend went on a rant today because there was a doctor in Seattle who had swabs from people she had tested for the flu, and wanted to test them for COVID-19 back in February. The CDC told her no.
If only they hadn't, this would be contained by now - WTF? People tried to point out to her that it wouldn't have done much (one doctor with 20 swabs is not a scientific study), but she was adamant that Seattle was on top of things first because they believed in SCIENCE, and didn't listen to TRUMP.
Several people pointed out that using someone as a guinea pig by testing them for one thing, then turning around and testing them for something else without their consent was considered immoral. Her response was if it prevented one death, it would be worth it. People (including myself) then pointed to the Tuskegee project as an example of why this policy was in effect - I specifically said that those doctors probably thought they were acting for the common good as well - nope. The Tuskegee project was nothing more than racism.
Mind you, when this was first breaking in Washington State, she did not practice any type of self-isolation or social distancing. In fact, she flew to Indiana for a convention and complained before she left that foot traffic would be down because of this (she had a booth there). But oh yeah, they are better than the rest of us.
It took (and is still taking) everything I have not to just call her a fucking pretentious asshole on her page.

Noble desires conflict with actual ethics. If they knew who they were, and they did, they should have pursued updated release forms.

There were less than 20 patients - I think when she did get permission to test, 3 were positive, and all three had recovered. Definitely not data that I would base a full shutdown of services on.
She made it sound like it would have made a world of difference and stopped this in it's tracks. As I noted, she herself chose to travel even after the first cases were reported because she was in a low-risk group and things were under control in her state.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

The #1 thing that you shouldn't do with this going on is getting on an airplane. The #2 thing you shouldn't do is go to a convention. And the #3 thing is to open your big mouth about things that you have no clue what you're talking about.

You know what else won't be counted as related deaths? Everyone who can't get help while the Trump Pandemic is in effect.
