BC/BS has relaxed their refill restrictions. Right now, my prescriptions are written for 1 month, with 3 refills.
So I get 30 pills and have to wait to refill until I'm down to about 7. And yes, it does cause me anxiety sometimes.
Right now, you can get a 30 day emergency supply - so basically a 'free' refill - you can get two months at once, but you can only do it one time.
I don't have a problem with this policy - 30 days backup should be enough at the moment.
I go into Giant, and ask them to refill all the drugs. They try and get a rejection - too early to refill. Weird, right?
So, I call BC/BS. Very nice rep answers and explains that well, yes you can get two months at once right now.
BUT...
The pharmacy has to call them to get a special one-time authorization code. I can understand that. After all, they want to be able to see that you took advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime offer so they don't give it to you again.
BUT...
The only way for the pharmacy to get the code is to try to put the prescription through, and call ON THE SAME DAY THEY TRY. If they call the next day, no dice.
So, in order to do this, I have to cause a large headache for the pharmacy, who I am pretty sure are dealing with a lot of headaches of their own right now. WTF?
Only good thing to come out of this call was finding out that my Lunesta authorization had expired - nice lady said she'd start the process for a new one so I can get my refill on time. Gotta love how they notify you in advance that you need the doctor to explain (yet again) why you take this shit.
But we have the best health care system in the world! Oh yes, we do!
