Major League Baseball is planning on having their season begin around July 4th. Games will be played in empty parks, at least at the onset. NFL may well follow suit. There have been some suggestions that the venues could allow a greatly reduced number of seats at some point, depending... What's the freakn point? ?? Also, don't forget that you will still have blackouts in home tv markets, unless they lift all those stupid rules too.

Money. Money changes ever-y-thing!
NHL is talking about starting up in JULY! They'll have 2 weeks of games and then do playoffs. Why? Cause they want that TV revenue. And the top players get a cut of the playoff revenue as part of their contract, so no play means no moola.
Mind you, I adore hockey and my Caps. But for the Love of God, just call it a day and figure out how to handle the draft and next season already!

Weren’t blackouts started to encourage ticket sales? If they can’t sell tickets, it seems to negate the purpose.
Im finding it hard to find anything interesting about sports these days. I’ve been deleting all the sports newsletters I get with nary a glance. Maybe once things start happening I’ll feel differently, but I’m not so sure. I find myself escaping more and more to fiction.

Players are saying they want to go back to playing, and will do so whenever they are told it's safe (notice they never say who they expect to tell them this).
I wish they'd use that multi-million dollar platform they have to say something like "Of course I want to play. I can't imagine that anyone in this country or around the world doesn't want to get this virus under control, so that we can think about things like entertainment and sports again. BUT right now, our entire focus should be on keeping people safe and getting this under control so the game can resume safely. To that end, I think we need to cancel the rest of the season and look ahead to next year. In the meantime, I am donating xxx to yyy - I encourage everyone out there who can do so to support this charity or other worthy ones. We need to look out for each other - stay inside and stay safe folks!"
And the people who need to be saying this the most are players in the NBA and NHL - their seasons are effectively over - stop trying to figure out how to 'resume' play!

It didn't get past me that $$$ was the point. But they are called spectator sports for a reason. Every player has had fans watching them play since they were little, cheering them on or cussing them out... not for nothing, but the game is FOR the fans. Not that I'm opposed to watching games on tv if we're lucky enough to be able to, but I can't imagine how boring that will get in a big hurry.
I agree, they should fold up the 2020 seasons for all the major sports and look toward going back when EVERYONE can go back.

Well, I can see the NFL restarting perhaps on a delay and reduced fans. They can ask the Skins for tips on how to play to a mostly empty stadium The other sports should just hang it up and wait for next year.

I believe that for the Skins, it’s like playing an “away” game. 😄

Yeah, because they all wish they were far 'away' from that field!

And because visiting team fans are able to attend because so many cheap tickets are available. Snyder doesn’t care who sits in those seats. He just wants their cash.

Well, in Snyder's defense, I suspect that's all most owners care about in the end - putting asses in seats and collecting that cash.
It's why all these assholes are trying to finish off seasons - money, money, money.
You'd think that Snyder would want the cash though - the way you make money is to put a quality product on the field!
