Trump's postponed rally in Tulsa, OK has given (sold - not sure if you have to pay), over 500,000 tickets away. And they are also planning on live-streaming it.
And judging from my informal poll of yard signs, there is no indication that support for Agent Orange is declining.
Meanwhile, I've heard shit (or lack thereof) from the Democratic side. I am in serious fear right now. This election is in no way sitting in the Democrat's lap. In fact, I would say far, far from it.
I hope that Biden is working on sensible proposals that move us closer to more liberal goals
For example, we all know that universal health care won't fly right now.
--But saying that he's going to open the market to allow more competition so premium prices go down while preserving benefits? Wow, that sounds great! What the hell does it mean? Who cares? It sounds good!
We know that a universal income won't fly
--But saying that we're going to expand tax breaks for those making under $250K/year? Woo-Hoo! Sign me up!
Defunding the police (which is a stupid slogan anyway - the goal is to increase social services)?
--Hell no! We need the police to fight *real* crime
--We're going to increase funding for mental health services, and community programs so the police aren't responding to so many low-level things that could be solved in better ways
--Our goal is to strengthen neighborhoods and get people back to where they look out for each other - that's what makes America great - our togetherness
Eliminating racism?
--We all know this doesn't happen overnight, but we're going to increase protections for minorities and fund opportunities - both educational and business priorities
--We're going to work with public schools to empower teachers and administrators to try innovative approaches to learning, including combinations of online and in-classroom teaching
--We're going to make sure that each home has access to affordable internet so students can stay connected
Pretty much all crap, but it sounds pretty, doesn't it?
We're not going to win by detailing specifics - we need to go with large vague ideas, just like our opponents.
And for every question asked about specifics - I am going to work with Congress and the Senate to work out a bi-partisan plan to make this happen!
Make the campaign slogan "America United - Better Together!"
Damn John - we need to make this happen! Want to be my VP?
