My psychiatrist is up in Woodbridge. In order to go to my check-ups, I have to take a half-day off of work to account for the drive up there, the appointment itself and the drive back. Four hours blown away.
Due to the virus, they've gone virtual.
Had my quarterly follow-up last week. 20 minute phone call done during my lunch. All meds (even the controlled ones) sent over to Giant electronically. All paid for by my insurance. Co-pay charged to the credit card I have on file.
Easy-peasy.
Funny how insurance companies said this 'couldn't be done' and so wasn't a covered service back at the end of February, but suddenly it's now doable. And it looks like it will stay doable, as my next follow-up in October is scheduled as a phone appointment as well. (Dr said they'd call if BC changed the rules so I'd know to come in person).
Makes you really wonder about how much else is 'doable'. Well, I guess it does if you're not Republican....

Yeah, my rheumatologist sent my gabapentin in electronically this time, too. The only reason I had to go in, I believe, was for the blood letting. Usually the prescriptions are ready by the time I get back to King George from Richmond, but not this time - and I even stopped at Popeyes for shrimp and onion rings. No big deal, I thought, I’ll have it delivered. Nope - can’t deliver controlled meds! (And I’m still fuming about gabapetin suddenly being controlled).
