I do feel for the folks caught in the middle of this. Got a FedEx package just now. Driver was a nice dude, but man oh man did I get an earful from him. He had just delivered a few blocks away and the guy was a cop and gave him (the driver) shit because he (cop) 'knew' the driver was speeding. Reamed the driver out for 10 minutes about how he should be charged with reckless driving, ect. On a Sunday afternoon. In 95 degree heat. For a package that I doubt had life-saving supplies or medications. Driver did say that he was probably 5 above the limit - truck's transmission is bad so you have to gun it to get it into 3rd now. Still no justification for the tirade. And of course the driver is hot, irritated and frustrated at having to work on Sunday, so he went right back at the dude - told him to call FedEx or the actual police if he had an issue, because he sure wasn't acting the way a police officer should. Driver said that since they are all essential, it's harder than hell to get any time off, and they are drowning in a sea of packages. With too many customers who feel free to complain if their package is 3 minutes late I talked with him and let him blow of some steam for about 15 minutes, but all I could think of was that this was how people snapped and started shooting their co-workers. And for the record, my package that required a Sunday delivery? A bobblehead. That I ordered in January. With non-rush shipping (was one that wasn't going to be manufactured until February). Sent express last Thursday. No doubt because others complained that they had yet to receive their toy, which had not yet been charged to their credit card. *sigh*

Day: Yesterday
Location: Ghetto Food Lion
Offense: the cashier actually pulled down his mask to lick his fingers because the bags weren't opening for him.
Charge: Being an idiot.
Citation: none written, not even a stank eye issued
Reason: because they have enough to worry about without having assholes go off on them while they are making minimum wage.
Takeaway: I should have found a nice way to put it to him but couldn't, just couldn't So I STFU and rebagged, wiped the stuff down with disinfectant before putting it in the van.

Not that he should have done that, but it is an issue for cashiers, because those damn bags are not made to easily separate, even with gloves on. So the cashiers have pretty much gotten used to licking a finger then using that to separate the bag. Hard habit to break.
And there have been lots of studies to show that this shit doesn't really transmit from surfaces, so using a wipe on the bag handle should do it - you shouldn't have to re-bag everything.

If it can be detected in saliva, which it can, that was a problem. I only had about 6 things and keep bags, wipes, and hand sanitizer in the van so it was an easy fix for me. All that stuff is in there because I used to do everything like that before it went into the house.
I understand habits are hard to break. Especially the bad ones.
