So last week I stepped in a hole in my driveway and tweaked my left hamstring. It has provided some discomfort in addition to my numerous other maladies, but I’ve soldiered on - just a tad lamer than normal. Yesterday, I was pondering on the fact that the hamstring pain seemed to be getting worse rather than improving after 8 days. Then last night I was carrying a giant box from the driveway to the front porch when I tripped and aggravated the same damn hamstring. Oh my dog, the pain!
And don’t get me started on these fucking delivery people that leave packages in the driveway. For the second time in a week, I’ve found a package last night near the garage that was sopping wet. This one was via FedEx, and was a new card for my tv receiver. Luckily, it still works after marinating in the downpours we experienced. Last week, UPS left a box with a book from Amazon that I had been avidly awaiting. The joy of reading a previously soaked book!
This is why I hate leaving the house!😉

It's good to see you still kvetching. So kvetch at will!

Steps are the biggest hurdle for me. They have been for awhile, because of the knees and hips. But now, the hamstring is much more painful than the joints when going up stairs. Descending isn’t quite so bad but it’s awful going up. So much so that I left my cell phone upstairs when I came down today and elected to leave it. Especially after I tweaked the hamstring again while bringing in my latest bounty of Diet Coke that I bought Thursday. <sigh>
I’ve decided to accept your invitation to kvetch at will. 😄

I'm taking it that there's not some sort of over the counter brace or wrap that will help with the hamstring, right? I have been very, very fortunate in not having ever torn a muscle.

I pulled my right one years ago in jazzercise and it took a couple months to heal. It’s miserable, because you don’t realize how much you use something until you can’t. My husband tore his hammy while waterskiing and all they did for it was wrap an ace bandage around it. Unfortunately, my discomfort is close to my buttock (🤣) so wrapping it would be a challenge. I guess I could try that since I brought home the ace bandages they used to wrap my legs in before they found compression stockings that fit. I’ll try that tonight, since getting comfortable to sleep has been fleeting recently.

When I pulled mine (playing basketball with much younger people) it turned everything from the back of my knee to my asscheek purple. I had to sit on icepacks for 3 or 4 days to get the swelling and pain under control. Ace bandages are the best bet for "stability" while it heals.
